So putting brakes on. Inspected spindle. No cracks or marring of the surface. Looks pretty good. Should I take it to a frame shop for professional inspection or is it just overacting? Just hate catastrophic failures on the road.

If it hasn't been in a situation where it got bent it is most likely OK if you don't see any defects or discoloration from excess heat. Axles very seldom fail most problems are bearings, wheels, or tires. While checking make certain your springs and all related hardware are OK.

On the subject of axle. I’m thinking about beefing up the axle for bit more tonnage. Where do I start with this process ? I would like to find vendor/mechanic that can find salvage axle. Thanks in advance to anyone who responds. gong4peace

Replacing them can be done with a jack, jack stands, and a basic socket set. Just from a quick search, you can get a 5,200 lb axle for under $200: axlesCorresponding leave springs for around $50: springsIf you're handy in the slightest, give it a shot. A shop would charge you much more for the same service.
