This was a great Craig's List find. My good friend David who is also one of my long time viewers and runs the ranch you may have seen me camped at in New Mexico, has been searching CL for years now in search of the perfect deal. He found it and I helped him aquire it. More than 30 people called claiming they would buy it sight unseen for cash right now after I made a deal with the seller to hold it for a day so David could drive into town with the cash and pick it up. He held it an David got it. The trailer is complete and except for the caved roof metal around the vent the exterior is in really good shape. David will replace the metal roof and replace any rot underneath. He's been watching my videos from the beginning and I have a lot of faith in David to treat this trailer right. Here's a video walk through tour: youtu.be/DwpdS3WsqYM

Wow- what a find! That is beautiful! Good luck with your restoration David! Thank you. Looking over the videos Larry made, I see the work will be a time-consumer, but not all that brutal. I am fortunate that the 1957 Westerner is in good shape. I will post more images, perhaps smaller than the whopper I just uploaded. :-)

I am a 53 yr old single gal- doing this myself with the great help of Larry and this forum. It does take time- but it is so worth it! Don't be afraid to ask questions- I have gotten a wealth of info from the forum gurus!! Have fun

Of the 30 people who called the seller, I was #2.
O'well, at least a member got it.
Enjoy!

Love the patina on both, nicely matched pair. Imho I'd just get them both in good functional condition and leave the cosmetics alone. Perfect camo for camping in the desert, just a long abandoned camper and truck not worth much of another look, priceless.

As long as you lift or remove the skins and replace rotten framing and rusted fasteners so it doesn't end up in a big pile along side the highway. The metal on this trailer is in great shape except for the big dent in the roof. That will have to be replaced.

Good FUNCTIONAL condition. Yeah fix the rot, make the inside nice. I think to keep the look cohesive, I'd see about trying to flatten the dent vs replacement. Depends on the extent of the damage. Might be as simple as filling the space under it with ridgid foam panels to minimize the sag/dip?

Might be as simple as filling the space under it with ridgid foam panels to minimize the sag/dip? Keep in mind that I have seen photos that don't show up in the video. The ACME seam near the vent has been damaged and you can not do a permanent fix on that seam that is trustworthy. It's only because of that part that we need to replace the roof. And it will always puddle there now also because the aluminum has been stretched. A new roof is the only metal I can see that must be replaced.
