I have not posted a while and we are making good progress on our 1975 Scotty Hilander, in fact, we have our first trip planned for March, 16 months after purchase. We even got a title! But that is a whole other story.
I bought a reproduction of the vintage door stopper, it has a small piece with rubber in the middle on one side and on the other the long pencil like extension that keeps the door from hitting.
Very simply, which side goes where?
Thanks for everyone that has helped me out through this project.

Congrats on your HiLander! As for the door catch....the rubber bumper keeps the door from hitting the side of the camper. There should have at least 2 mounting holes on the opposite piece and that gets screwed to the camper side. I have seen them mounted so they catch the top of the door and at the bottom of the door and catch the corner edge, opposite of the hinge side. This the Yellowstone that I repaired for a friend. At the bottom, between the door and wheel well is a the original door catch.

Yes, the second one although I like the first one. Since I have the first one, is there are big reason not to use it? The piece on the right goes on the door? Thanks

Both should work fine. Yes, the piece on the right latches the door in place.
I didn't want to drill extra holes in the door for the second option.
