Hello. I'm getting back to my boondoggle—uh, I mean my Arrow Little Chief—after a month-long series of interruptions. It's crazy cold in western Illinois right now, so I'm just doing whatever stuff I can do in my (big) kitchen: cutting rigid foam insulation to size, rehabilitating windows, etc.
So, anyway. I started reassembling my door, figuring I could cut 4 foam pieces—3 narrow strips for the top and sides, one rectangle for the bottom—and then square them up and tape them together. I had lots of scraps that were big enough to squeeze these bits out of, and it just seemed easier than cutting the window-opening out of a single piece.
This is all by way of prologue to my tape question. I dug up some "foil tape" I purchased a year ago for another purpose but never used. I figure foil tape is foil tape, so I starting taping these door pieces together.....and this stuff DOESN'T STICK AT ALL.
I have no idea what brand it is, since the packaging is long gone, but it has blue peel-off backing and is impressively shiny. I also remember it being NOT CHEAP. So I'm chagrined.
It is supposed to stick to foam, right? Is there a brand that all you trailer experts use? Cause I shoulda just made some Christmas decorations or origami out of this stuff.
Thanks!

Most tape with peel off backing is very sticky. If it got hot, the sticky may have gone away. Mine has stayed sticky but our climate is mild. Could it be that it's too cold?? Try heating with a hair dryer?
That said, buy some glue that can be used on foam. It comes as a caulk like stuff and is labeled for foam bath surrounds, things like that. Glue your pieces together and possibly to the framing as well.
Another option to hold the foam in place until you skin the door is spray adhesive. Spray per directions and adhere.
