You know when you build a garage you think, "This is a great garage", then your hobbies change and you need a bigger garage and a bigger door. I am there now. I am trying to get a building permit so I can add on to my pole barn so I can roll the 1957 Trottwood into it so I can work on it over the winter. So, are you able to work on your camper this winter? Did you make a portable cover or are you fortunate to have a big garage? I ran into a guy this summer from East Aurora New York who bought a house that had a garage where a guy sold campers in the 50's and 60's out of it. How cool is that. Good luck to all with your winter camper work.

I work under a lean-to but only in warm weather. Warm to me is over 50 degrees. I'm impressed by people who do restorations with nothing but tarps for protection.

Very nice, Larry, you earned it for sure. I'm assuming you have a bed for the dog, a coffee pot and a beer fridge in there too.

The coffee pot stays in the house and yes I have a beer fridge out there. Internet also. I broadcast my classes live on Tuesday evenings right from the shop.

For anyone that is going to put up a building to work on a camper in. Be sure to go with ten foot tall walls and at least an eight foot tall door. You will much appreciate it later on. LOL

In order to get the head room for my new addition I have to build the new trusses , Salt box style, I hope to dig the holes for the posts Christmas weekend, that is if I get the approval from the zoning board. I will most likely be shoveling snow off the area to work and put down the stone pad. Concrete next summer.

A new trend in my region for mid-range new homes is RV garages. Plenty of room for parking a camper and room to work. Plus they are so tall, you can build loft space for storage.

What is working in the winter up here in the far north. We think about things like trying to survive, keep from freezing to death and were to put the snow. So if you want to know about working in the winter come on up and we can visit. In my head as well because my wife takes over the garage in the winter. I need to find some money and build a large heated shed.

Shastatom - you have it balmy down there in Rochester...I'm at least (75) miles north of you in the really frigid St. Cloud!
Fortunately, I am lucky enough to have a shop to work in during the 11-month winter we have here. 40 x 60 total, 40 x 30 heated and air conditioned, and 40 x 30 as storage/ working area for the trailers themselves. The working side has a large slider door to get the trailers in and out. The heated side has a traditional overhead door not quite tall enough.
This time of the year, I'll be working in the heated side on doors and windows, cleaning up siding, rebuilding individual wall structures, cabinetry, etc. I'll wait until Spring to do major tear down, frame work, reassembly, and paint.
Here's a few photos:
Had to throw the Trans Am in there at the end...I'm a motor head now turning into a closet Glamper. Don't tell my friends!
