I love my 1976 Argorsy, but the the gray & black tanks are so small. If I'm primitive camping every couple of days I have to add fresh water to the holding tank. Any suggestions?

Welcome cushmangirl!
How large are the tanks now? Is there even space for larger tanks?

Use less water, seriously when trying to get buy on your water tanks when boon docking you must do everything possible to conserve water. I knew a lady that used to complain about the same problem but she would open the faucet all the way and let it run while washing her hands or run it continually while rinsing dishes like she would at home this empties a water tank quickly.

I don't understand your comment about having to add fresh water to the holding tank, but I do know that "what goes in is what comes out". Being "self contained" is all about understanding and managing your consumption and replenishment of things like propane, fresh water, black and gray water...and 12 volt battery power. It takes awhile (a few camping trips) to learn how things work and then how to modify them for your particular needs. We don't have a black water tank. Our camper is set up so that the fresh water tank and gray water tank are both about 16 gallons. Before going on a trip we empty the gray water tank and the porta potty, and fill the fresh water tank. When we run out of fresh water, we know it is time to empty the gray water tank. Usually the fresh water runs out first since we use it for cooking and cleaning, so a lot of it doesn't end up in the gray water tank. We can go for about 3 or 4 days on just 16 gallons. Showers are in the campground's facilities. Hope this helps.

Big Bill and Turbodaddy are right. NEVER leave the tap on. If you’re rinsing a dish, catch the water In a basin and use it to star to rinse the next one. If you have a shower, do a California bath... get wet, turn off the water, scrub down, rinse quickly. It’s possible to shower with less than a gallon of water. How can we be so cheap with H2O? We used to be backpackers and had to carry all our water at least 150 feet, and usually uphill!
