What did they use for the outside finish? I would love to do my trunk door in wood but not sure how to water proof it.

Thanks I must have missed it while watching. Epoxy... that sounds expensive. Is thereany other options? I'm sure there are, like marine grade varnish. I've seen other woodies done like that. It looks to me like this guy is a real carpenter. I'm very impressed with the work. Nice to have access to the tools too.

This is by Mike Vanderbosch on Facebook. I seem to recall it was done with marine varnish.

When I asked how much it weighed, he said Of course. It doesn't even come close to the 6,000 lb towing capacity of our Tacoma . Original weight was a little under 2,000 lbs, finished weight a little over 2,100 lbs. Looks can be deceiving. A carefully kept track of the weight. The mahogany paneling is comparable in weight to the original metal skin. The maple trim weighed only 40lbs before I planed a 1/3 of it off. Here is the interior and another wood exterior trailer.

I remember when Mike started that trailer. I could be wrong but I seem to remember he was seriously injured or sick and the project gave him purpose and perspective. Very cool and he did a very detailed job.
