What do you all use? On my Shasta Airflyte, there is about a 6" high piece of laminate/Formica that matches the counter and the table. When I removed it 2 years ago, I didn't pay attention to what went between it and the counter top surface. What do you all use for trim in the 90 degree corner between your counter and backsplash?

Mine has a trim with a small cove on top and enough flange below to nail to back of counter top plywood. I think this is kind of normal and I think this aluminimum trim style is available out there somewhere. Can't remember where i saw it.

Mine originally used white cove gimp. When attached to the back of the counter, it makes a nice smooth fillet, like a good caulk job. We used black as it had a nicer match to the counter color. www.vintagetrailersupply.com/3-4-Cove-Gimp-p/vts-012.htmI don't have a good closeup, but you can see it around the edge of the counter and wall here.

thanks danrhodes and roadtripper ... another question along the same line or area at least... I think I made a mistake when I made my countertop and I didn't extend it beyond my cabinet base. So it's flush all the way around. How does the aluminum trim go on the counter? Is it just a right angle the covers the top and front and nails on? Or is it supposed to go around the top, front and bottom? I really thought I was paying attention to all these details when I removed stuff, but clearly not!

The stuff I used would work fine with a flush counter install. It might actually work better since mine hangs over the 5/8" counter edge. 1/4 in. x 15/16 in. x 96 in. Metal Mira Lustre Grooved Edging Moulding www.homedepot.com/p/205576705

danrhodes, I would love to see a close up of your corner with that gimp, and how do you use that one, I guess I dont understand the install of that one

When installed tightly, the flap forms a nice curve. Some campers even used in place of the tubular gimp, but mine only used on the counter. I don't like gimp on the floor because it's hard to clean, but I think I might consider this next time for a clean look. (Forgive the dirty counter... Never cleaned up after last trip)

I do like that danrhodes ; and presumably it would be an easier install, i.e. no worries about bending it, crimping, etc. Definitely easier to handle than delicate aluminum. And cheaper too, probably?

Mel, why do you say you'd use something different for the corners? Do you not like the cove moulding you used? Or was it hard to use? SaveSave

I like it and it looks nice. I only only use something different because the way I installed the countertop would be different next time so it wouldn't work then. My Formica was just like the original attached to thin Masonite then sat on top of a thicket piece of wood, but next time I would cement the Formica right to the thicker wood, seems like it would be stronger that way.
