does anyone know if this stuff by Morlite works just like the butyl tape?

my local home depot has the morlite for around 5 bucks but ive gone this far and if there is a difference I want the right stuff. but it seems the same to me.

The link seems broken but if you cut and paste it, it works. The Grainger link doesn't have enough info for me... I'd just buy butyl putty tape on Amazon...a small price increase without worrying about whether it will work.

It's not the same stuff. You need either RV butyl putty tape or pure butyl tape for sealing a trailer. The difference is that RV putty is slightly less sticky and has crinkly paper. Pure butyl is VERY sticky, hard to work with and trim and has smooth paper. They both work.
I like butyl in iffy areas that may be prone to more leakage, such as butted metal or door trim. RV putty works better for me on door and window flanges.

well now that I've worked with both, the butyl tape is more sticky but thinner. I got one inch wide and If you had new J rails going up on new strait siding I can see it working good. (oh after you freeze it first). but my J rails and siding are original and have hi/lo spots leaving little gaps. the Morlite is thicker and even wider than butyl. and filled the cracks better.
I ended up using both. I have a fear of future leaks hahaha.
