I discovered both my side walls on my 1966 Aristocrat LoLiner need to be replaced. I have decided to try to find modern day materials to substitute for the plywood innereds. I started by looking at Poly Carbonate double wall because it is hurricane rated and can withstand a 20 mm hail stone traveling at high velocity. Heck its even required in some states as window shutters during a hurricane. But after talking to 15 different companies, I got exactly 15 different answers. Bottom line is no one knew if you could use their product for trailer walls.
based one three weeks work and no progress I began looking at Thermoplastics, and got an immediate answer! "Hell yes!" I was told its lighter then plywood, rot resistant, mildew resistant, decreases noise, increases insulation, load to weight ratio, cuts down on gas consumption because less weight. You can cut it with regular tools and hang it like plywood. having this information I became intrigued.
I asked the guy if it will work mas a trailer wall. he said, "Hell Yes!" because they already use it to build trailers, vehicles, boats, trains, trucks,buildings,......
Obviously now it boils down to cost. He said he would ship panels in 4' x 8' sections to keep it cost effective. once I receive my sample I can contact him and he said he will write up an estimate. Now there is nothing wrong with tried and true plywood. But I am a medically retired police officer with 8 different work related injuries, and I will be doing all the work by myself. So anything I can do to lighten the load is a plus for me

Let us know what you find out. Cost, delivery, then how it works out if you go ahead with it, also lots of pictures. Also structural strength and will it hold screws or will they strip out.
