After checking for sale sites for a while, and always being just a bit late t the party, I picked up a 68 Starflyte today, and it made the 100+ mile trip home with no problems. I believe it to be pretty original, with original stove, toilet, hot water tank, fridge, cabinets etc. Maybe from the photos someone can tell me if they aren't original? Oh, on the way home (From Ohio to PA) I was at a rest stop and when I came out, there was this couple walking around the trailer checking it out. They said they loved and and asked if they could see inside It definitely had/has a water leak. Around the left front window, rear right and roof vent. The water tank holds water and pressure, so that is good. The hot water tank needs some work. The tank itself is good, but the thing where you push the button to light it is screwed up. It has a few dings and dents, but it is 49 years old. The toilet and black water tank were both removed, but included. I just need to crawl under this thing to see how the tank is attached. I also need a new rear bumper. This has some rust. Seller said some type of water lines are stored inside it? He didn't have them and I'm not sure what he means. This thing will keep me busy for a while 20170622_141625 by Bill, on Flickr 20170622_164116 by Bill, on Flickr 20170622_164812 by Bill, on Flickr 20170622_164818 by Bill, on Flickr 20170622_164836 by Bill, on Flickr 20170622_164846 by Bill, on Flickr 20170622_170504 by Bill, on Flickr 20170622_172045 by Bill, on Flickr 20170622_172057 by Bill, on Flickr 20170622_172146 by Bill, on Flickr 20170622_172234 by Bill, on Flickr 20170622_172253 by Bill, on Flickr 20170622_174240 by Bill, on Flickr 20170622_174717 by Bill, on Flickr 20170622_193703 by Bill, on Flickr

Thanks, we are excited to clean her up and track down a few items. It didn't come with any leveling jacks, and the one lamp shade by the rear bed has seen better days. The door latch is original, but I can't get it to lock,so I'll pull that out and see if I can fix it. I also need to clean up the wiring.
I have a question for someone that might have a similar model. There is a switch in the celing right outse the bathroom door. What the heck is it for? Also, I've seen similar models wjth an outside light by the door. Was that an option or just something someone did in their own?

I think you're right! Just sitting in the driveway I've had 3 neighbors stop by want to see it, including a 13 year old girl who loves the wings 😁 She also offered to help clean it up in the inside

Some weekends I feel like I'm putting on a show for the neighbors. We have a blog and wife wants to just make business cards for me to hand out instead of giving the grand tour.

Lol. I didn't get the same responses when we brought ours home. I made a list and all the comments I hear about a scrap yard or Sanford and son gets you off the " first camping trip list". My wife has a lot of her teacher girl friends that's not going camping.

Shore looks good hitched up to that Z71... The only thing I see that doesn't look original is the globe for the gas lamp. Even the cushions are there and THAT is highly unusual. You do know of course, that it is recommended to take stuff apart to check it for structural rot. They can look that good to the eye, but contain all kinds of hidden problems. Also, regardless of the rot level, all the putty tape really should be replaced. That is the root cause of all the rot. Everyplace there is an opening should be resealed. You'll find that once you start on this project, it lends itself to starting several others... . Remember that it is all a process and every step leads to improving the lifespan of your new family member!

I kiind of figured that globe wasnt original. I was doing a little cleaning today and saw it was flopping around in there.Any idea whatnthey look like and where I might find one?
I do plan on investing where the water was coming in. The previous owner seemed to have sealed everything with silicone, and although I didn't see any water during the torrential rain we had today, I know that silicone needs to go. I do want to remove all of the windows too, and reset them with new gaskets and new stainless steel screws. Id actually like to replace all of the exterior screws wjth stainless. I saw a link the other day for gaskets, but of course I didn't save it

We did some major cleaning today and in the process, decided to plug in the fridge. It didn't make any noise at all, so I just figured it was dead but when I checked it a bit later, it was actualy getting cold! Threw some water in the ice cube trays and a few hours later, had some ice cubes 😊

You said you gave up on CL which is a good thing to do. Most of those people are trying to make a small fortune on an old trailer they have taking up space in their driveway or yard.

I realize that now, about no compressor. I've learned a lot this past week 😊 I actually did find it on Craigslist (searchtempest) It was only about 100 miles away. Ive ordered a few parts, like a new regulator for the tanks, a new globe for the gas lamp, just finished reinstalling the black water tank and plumbing. Now just need to work on the hw tank. I think the problem is the regulator on the propane tanks. All flames are really small on stove, oven, heater, fridge and hw tank. The fridge actually did start getting a but cold running on gas though. All in all, I'm very happy, and much to my surprise, my wife is too! She is now constantly online looking for ideas. Now we just need to take a few trips

Now we just need to take a few trips Stuff tends to clog the propane lines at the fittings. Especially T and L fittings. I like to blow out the gas lines by disconnecting everything and opening up all the fittings. Blow all the lines out and then put them all back together.
