I recently purchased a 67 Kit Companion, I know that lots of people have asked paneling questions but after searching, I am not finding an answer I think I am looking for. I have that light Ash paneling and I have had a heck of a time finding it anywhere. I am trying to decide what my best option is....
1. Just put in all new paneling and paint it since it will not match the white ash on the cabinets. ( My dad who is wanting to help me redo it is beside himself that I may paint it)
2. Replace the paneling that is bad and mix in oak?
3. Replace all the paneling so it matches and maybe paint the cabinetry?
4. Replace all the paneling and have one wood on the walls and the cabinets be different?
I plan to keep the trailer for a long while as I have wanted one for many years but we are active military and didn't want to get into the midst of it and get orders. We live near family now so if something happens we have a safe place to store her and people to check in on her. We live in Washington state and so if any of you are in the area and have advice to resources in my area I would love your help.
Thanks, Summer

Welcome Summerbea!
First of all, paneling is only installed after structural repairs are done. You can't know how many panels are needed until you actually take it apart and look... Vintage trailers should always be repaired from the outside in, after lifting the skins.
That type of paneling can be very difficult to find. I've done two late 60s Kits and both needed panels. I used what I could find used and tried to stain to match the rest. It worked OK. The panels actually had veneer with a very tough coating. Not "real" wood, but pretty.
Hang around a while and we are all willing to help.

Thanks! Yes, I know, I must do it from the outside in. We are lifting the skins Monday, I was waiting for the side walls for my carport since I am in the PNW, I don't want to take any chances with our rainy weather I was mostly asking in advance about the paneling since I had looked all over the internet and hadn't found anything, I wanted to give myself as much time as possible to figure that part out. Not get to the paneling and spend months trying to locate or make a decision. There is not a ton of people who have shared their Kit restorations. I know what you are taking about as far as the veneer. The front end of mine has some serious water damage and the previous owner peeled back the paneling and you could see the way it was layered on there. Sadly, my veneer definitely has moisture damage. My father and I are committed to do it right, I really thank you for the help.

Well, I've done a Kit just recently: 66kittrailer.shutterfly.com/ The paneling was not fun to match. It isn't "blond" and isn't the 60s "green". Just different... Click on Pictures and videos to view the albums. I'm also in the PNW and do have some lighter paneling, but don't think it would be close enough. PM me for details and my email address.
