My trailer has one of the vintage barman waterfills that everyone seems to like, so we carefully cut it off with a saws-all across the pipe. Now I am about to order a new water tank. I am wondering if we can simply leave the piece of pipe attached to the waterfill and place the new water hose over it with a round metal plumbing clamp. (The kind that gets tighter when you turn the screw on it). If I don't do that, then what am I supposed to be buying to screw into the waterfill that will work with the old metal threads?
Thanks for any help

Fitting into the old water fill is not as easy as it sounds..
Today's RV fittings are not the same size as original plumbing fittings. In other words, 1 1/2" fittings tend to be 1 1/4".
I would use a "Fernco" rubber/clamp connector if you have the room. If not, you can possibly use black poly pipe (softened with a heat gun) to connect from the orig. pipe to the tank fitting.
Sometimes boat fittings will make a transition possible.
And lastly, the threads inside the fill seem to usually fit sink (1 1/2) fittings. They are all different, so take your time and carry the fill with when looking.
