the average 15 foot Canned Ham with no frills runs about 500 hours in labor. And what I'm finding out about self contained toasters is that they will take about 700 hours in labor. The only reason you get a camper finished in 500 hours is because you've done it 15 times. My first camper took me twice that long. My 4th camper still took me 50% longer. Heck, trips to Lowes take up 50 hours. Well it didn't take me long to find out that when you restore a trailer for yourself, you aren't going to make money on it when you sell it. I have no idea how many hours I put into my first vintage trailer but I kept the receipts and added them up AFTER I sold it. I made a grand total of $1.78.... And I think I was very lucky to have not lost money on it to boot. So that's the kind of trailer someone who is looking for one should go after. A trailer that someone has restored for themselves, used it for some time and is now ready for another project. They'll sell off the old one and use the money to begin another one. They are proud of what they did but they won't be trying to make a killing on it.

I agree some of my best purchases have been from people that no longer have any interest in something so they just want it gone, sometimes they give it away.

Most properly rebuilt trailers are sold for a loss if they pay themselves a dollar an hour. The exceptions are the rare true classics.
