mobiltec So, I would say that the propane refrigerators for the camper purposes would be vented with a flue. Well it's just an oblong hole in the ceiling and you block off the airspace from the top of the refrigerator so heat doesn't collect up there. Chimney effect happens. Cools very well. I show all that in my refrigerator installation vids. I will have to check that out. I might not ever have a propane refrigerator but if I ever do I`d like to know about them. I am always for learning.

Well, finally... after a few delays and interruptions, got some tires on it, tapped into the light cord, and dragged it home!

A few in the daylight: There are a few signs of some rot. But it's pretty straight. It towed well on the trip home, but I can tell I would need a bigger truck to camp out with this rig. This is the worst outward sign of the rot, the trunk door is not attached to the hinges any more, like most of the trunkbacks. Easy enough fix. I started to clean out the interior yesterday, but haven't gotten more interior photos yet. I no sooner got started on cleaning it out, and lightning struck again.....

The skin does look straight. For the arctic North it's surprising.
Is that three campers I see? Shasta deluxe? You like the big camper. The space is nice, isn't it?

How common is it to install the j rail on top like that? Seems more prone to leakage?

I think the L rail was good for many years, until the putty failed. This type of edge trim does put holes in the roof, which worries me. My 52 Hanson has an awning rail up top. Oddly, it didn't leak. The rest of the trailer was powder and rot...
Also, the early Shastas had very cool putty. It is cloth backed and kept my 57s from leaking at the lower butt joints. Really.

Mine had cloth backed too...I know because the original putty was still in place.

The Avalon sat on the Previous Owner's property for over 20 years. It was last registered in 1976, and the PO was the second owner...they bought it and never registered it, moved it home on a temporary permit (no longer available in NY) which was dated May 1993. That definitely contributed to its present condition, being as it was not pounded over the road at all in all that time. Shasta Deluxe... more on that later... It isn't so much that I want the bigger campers, they are just the ones that are finding me!

My Compact had the cloth backed putty tape and all of it still seemed good when I took my camper apart. None of it was dry or brittle. I honestly think it would have only had water damage under the windows if someone hadn't drilled their own holes in the awning rail where water came in.

You are getting quite the collection. Love this new one too, looks to be in pretty decent condition.
