I am interested in how the radial tires compare to bias ply? I'd probably opt for the bias due to space issues, but they get universally terrible reviews on Costco.com. I'm hoping the radials aren't significantly wider on a 13 inch rim...

What are the tires size ? That will determine how wide that they are. Like a 275R 70 13, the width will be 70% of the heighth in MM. So far, radials have worked well on some of My other trailers, I dont have radials on the camper though.

If this camper did not have these golf cart looking tires on it I would have radials on it too.

Links online seem to say that the 175 is the width from sidewall to sidewall, so I would assume there's no width difference between a radial and bias ply tire?

Ugh...now this page states that radials are actually narrower than bias ply. www.etrailer.com/question-29412.htmlI guess it is going to be a crap shoot, as the tires already on there are actually belted passenger car tires (P175/80B13) so there's going to be no comparison to either bias or radial.

All of the bias ply tires I've bought have been a little narrower than radials. There is a real conundrum with which type to buy. The tire shop says bias have stronger side walls, then say bias don't wear as well...
I don't trust eTrailer as experts on much. They have a good site, but there are major wiring errors (7way) and some of the info there is not correct. Take eTrailer with a grain of salt.

Agreed about etrailer, but they made a pretty comprehensive reply to my question... Enough to satisfy me at least. www.etrailer.com/question-192201.html?fb=yes

The new ones look more like they would fit under a trailer. And you're right about stuff Costco sells, I've never been disappointed by anything i got there either. If my kids were still little I'd still have a card there, we used to go at least twice a month. Now if I can find someone who has a card i love to go with them and get stuff can't anywhere else.

My trailer has no fitment issues...all the Shasta folks had me scared and they just popped right out. Still interesting that they are significantly narrower than most tires sized online.
