Nice thread. And I thought that $50.00 a sheet was too much for Birch plywood. LOL

Latest video on the rear framing of the walls and panels is up. A shoutout to mobiltec in this one for a great french polish explanation. I'm completely sold on the concept.

Looks great so far! We have a 62 Airflyte as well!
Do you have a picture of the spare tire mount for the rear bumper? Our is gone and I seem to never remember to put it in the back of my truck before a trip. I guess I would have to fabricate a replacement, but if you have a pic that would be awesome!

Let me look at mine. I might be able to cut you a good deal on it if I can get the tire off LOL. I don't think we are going to use it. I will send you a message later tonight.

I haven't posted much on my timeline here lately. Here a video I did yesterday of the polishing process I used on the stripe on the shasta. I am pretty happy with the results.

One thing worth mentioning...if the wheel spatters any polish the paint won't stick so it needs cleaned above and below, then cleaned again. I do the Z stripe by hand because it's easier for me to control where the polish lands. Although your way looks much faster and the shine speaks for itself. Your camper is going to look great.

Thank you. I'm hoping the hard work pays off and the paint job turns out like I have envisioned. I think it will.... I will be sure to get it real clean. I still don't know if I'm going to go over it the final time with, acetone, denatured alcohol, or prep sol?

Just a quick update for those that have been following: I'm not dead! Long story short, we are selling our house and moving... SO, the Shasta is currently wrapped up like a week old baby, and stored in my buddies back 40 out in the country. I hope to get back on things soon, but realistically it will be December before I will have any time to work on it, and who knows where that will be ? At that point, it will probably (although we are in GA) be too cold to paint it... but who knows?!?

Moving... ugh... I'm hoping I never have to move again until it's time to move to the cemetery.

Moving... ugh... I'm hoping I never have to move again until it's time to move to the cemetery. Yeah, I've always known there was going to be a day when I had to move. We have been "looking" for a while, but have just recently gotten a fire lit to get going. We have already moved a TON of crap out of our house to get it ready to be listed, that by itself was a job. BUT The good thing is now I do feel like we have a hold on things to be able to move out in a month if needed. Bad part is after we move, we have another 10x20 storage shed full of crap to sort through. AND 2 campers.

Glad you are still alive and kicking! I am in the same boat, or at least similar. We accepted an opportunity to caretake a place just a mile out of town, rent and utility free (12 miles closer in than we do now). While the owners moved to Maryland a month ago, we are waiting for some renovations to get finished, hopefully in the coming week Life gets busy here starting in mid September through January, so I am getting anxious. It has also been the most relentlessly hot summer that I can remember. We are lucky in that we have a chance to settle in and do some renovations at my house, as opposed to selling. Can't put it on the market because we need use of the small workshop and studio. My boyfriend has only managed to get a couple days' work done on the trailer in over a year, and I haven't gotten around to repairing the leak around the vent either. I just tarped it and so far the tarp is holding up well.

So..I do lurk from time to time on here, but have had ZERO time to work on the Shasta. We DID finally sell the house AND got moved into a new one. The good news with the new house is that there is tons of room unerneath it (it's built off of the ground by about 9 feet), so I have a 800 sq ft workshop, also a ton of parking space for my other camper. Bad news is that there is that the doors are too short for the Shasta ... BUT. I think I am going to build a small covered parking pad on the side for the Shasta. Something that it can eventually live in, but will also help me have cover for the rest of the restoration/rebuild. First things first, I have to go retrieve the camper maybe this weekend or next. Still have a ton of other projects around the house that have priority though. Hope to get back into things soon.. I'm starting to get the "itch" again to work on it.. I haven't had that in a while, so that's nice! Just need to find the time now.. Not related, but a photo of my workshop.. because a post without photos is pretty boring.

Great workshop! I moved too, but my trailer had to stay at the old place ( I have tenents in the house only), so it is kind of out of sight, out of mind for now. :/ I am hoping to get back to it soon.

Ok... Step ONE is getting the shasta back to my house. Done.. Now to figure out where to start. .. I'm thinking windows, and then in to the finish prep for paint. Sounds simple enough right.??
