theresa. I am not knocking anyone's hobby, everyone should have what they like. Several men are into glamping too maybe just as much as women.
At one gathering a married couple painted the whole inside of their camper solid black, black carpet floor, ceiling, walls, cabinets, everything, even black blankets and black pillows. They had two 100 watt lights inside the camper and it was still dark.
One woman turned her camper into the cutest office I ever saw and she sleeps in the back of her vehicle not in her camper. She said, it is her back yard office at home.
A motor cycle guy had flames painted all over his camper. At lease he likes it.
3 different camp trailers 3 different married couples bragged about, wife sleeps in this bed, husband sleeps in the other bed. How many married couples tell they do not sleep together anymore.
One couple each came in separate camper trailers each did their own glamping to their own trailer.
Some people want every thing 100% original and others get rid of all the original and make it their own.
Our camper is home away from home. Reclining lawn chairs, picnic table is kitchen in nice weather, queen size pillow top mattress for wife and I to cuddle. Blankets, towels, food, clothes, kitchen, bathroom, bed, AC & heat, every thing we need to live in the camper. We go camping every week usually Tuesday to Friday.

We have been camping with 5 camping groups. 3 vintage camping groups and 2 camping groups. We are tired of the vintage group we started out camping with too much showing off the camper and the glamping stuff. We tried showing off lots of glamping stuff but to much work and not much fun all the vintage glamping stuff got thrown into a pile in the garage. Most of the vintage people are not real camper. WE don't do asphalt parking lot camping that is not real camping. We did our first vintage gathering in March several months ago and decided we are not camping with that group anymore. This is a large group with 25 events that grew fast but now other people are leaving the group. Around the camp fire someone decides we should start our own group that is a real camping group so we exchanged emails someone will contact us but so far no one has.
We went camping with a 2nd vintage group they are more fun than the 1st group they do a pot luck 3 night in a row, coffee & catered breakfast every morning, games and lots of fun activities, Door prizes, bingo, music, movies, its a run group and they camp in real camp ground not KOA. This group does not do glamping ¬ much trailer talk.
The 3nd vintage group camps in State Parks this is a fun group too, they have a yard sale swap meet all day Saturday, catered food and pot luck dinner too. Go swimming in the river, water fall, pool, and other fun things. Circle around the camp fire talk & play music. Catered food & door prizes. Lots of camping talk, where have you camped, best place to camp, etc.
4th group is not vintage but camps in KOA camp grounds. 1 pot luck dinner Friday night then left over pot luck dinner Saturday night. Door prizes, games, movies, fun things to do and fun people to talk to.
5th group is an old camp trailer groups but don't consider them self vintage just old camper trailers if its is 20 years old then its old. They only camp in real camp grounds. If someone has a suggestion good place to camp and the group likes it they all go camping there. They do pot luck dinner just to get together and talk about camping.
Summer is here 99 degrees is too hot to camp. No more camping for us until Sept. We sold our 15 ft vintage and still have the 17 ft vintage. No more group camping for us from now on we camp alone in National Parks & State parks, and avoid KOA if possible. At the moment we plan to go north to Michigan in Sept then camp our way to Idaho. South to Utah, CO, CA, AZ, NM, home by Thanksgiving.
I gave a lot of our glamping stuff to a group from door prizes.

After my first rally I knew that vintage trailer rallies were not for me. I camp to camp, hike, swim, kayak, eat, hang with friends; whatever I came to that area to do. The vintage camper has a cool factor in itself, I don't need things other than what is making my camp experience comfortable.
But take note, you can't go into a campground without seeing party lights strung up (I think all my camp buddies put up lights when not backpacking or river camping of course)and you see signs posted in front of RV's, campers, 5th Wheels, vintage-not vintage, etc. Cutesy gee gaws (not sure what else to call dollar store finds) for all types of campers and RV's. Males and females are putting out this stuff to show their personal camp style. Inside and out, people are decorating their home away from home. My point is "glamping" is not just for vintage trailer enthusiasts and not just a female thing. I think "glamping" is subjective - not just pink, fuzzy and feminine. I may add party lights at some point. However, I did not appreciate camping next to a RV'er who kept their's on all night long.

I want to add something. When you see a 60 inch screen tv inside a rig, is that "glamping"?

Our take on party lights is much the same as our take on outdoor home lighting... if your lights are shining into my space, you need to fix it so they don’t. It’s the same reason that we don’t like to have to listen to others’ music. If they don’t make me listen to whatever they’re listening to, we won’t impose the 1812 Overture, complete with cannons, on them. Of course, because of this, we tend to stay away from developed campgrounds with full hookups and drive through RV spaces.

I use to live in southern Illinois where there are several nice State park camp grounds, crab orchard lake, little grassy lake, devils kitchen lake, fern cliffs, cave in rock, giant city, no electric, no water, no sewer, no showers, pit toilets, 1968 to 1977. I was back 1 time 20 years ago nothing has changed. I talked to a southern Illinois vintage camper groups having a rally soon, their camp ground only has electric at the camp sites. Illinois is still a 3rd world country. Camp ground pics look nice lots of trees, farm country in the corn belt. 270 mile drive from my house. We would go but we are already signed up to go camping the whole month of Sept. We decided festivals are more fun than vintage rallies. Lots of places have, music festivals, art & craft festivals, food festivals, jamboree festival, mountain festival, fish fry festival, strawberry festival, BBQ festival, old timer festival, there are lots of FUN festivals every month until Christmas.

We took our new to us 71 Compact on 3 trips this summer before starting repairs on it. And were got interesting responses everywhere we went everyone loves seeing old campers they remind them of when they camped as children. I like decorticating with a theme in mind but if you go overboard then you loose the charm of the vintage camper. We don’t even cook in the camper we have an outdoor propane kitchen. I have a vintage corningware hot plate and corningwear electric percolator. For cooking in the camper all I need is the basics camping is about enjoying time with family and friends. The more you dress it up the more time you have to spend keeping it in order and not enjoying your free time.
