Hi Friends, I have two possible locations pictured below. I don't particularly like having it on the outside as seen in picture 1 because you can see the wires enter and exit the box. I would prefer a cleaner look and place on the inside of the C- channel, not the outside as shown. However, the C- Channel isn't tall enough to accept the junction box. Vikx mentioned a backer board. Does that mean you screwed in a piece of wood on the inside of the C- channel and then mounted the junction box to that? Picture 1 Picture 2 shows a spot under the front side of the trailer. My concern might be that it's just barely away from the drip line of the trailer and also spray during driving in rain. Any concerns with location 2? Picture 2 I don't want to put it under the trailer simply for accessibility reasons. That leaves the inside of the tongue C Channel where access seems to be tight. Especially with propane tanks looming. Comments? Thanks, Rod

I ended up putting mine upright on the tongue. Many of those boxes are not waterproof upside-down, so I wanted to keep it both accessible and upright. I think of the tongue as the more utilitarian part of the camper and the box is not much uglier than a battery box.

Thanks, bud. Rod

Hi Friends, Planning on getting the ole Rod and Reel moving over spring break to get the springs rearched. I got some headway on this. A break away system has been mounted, but still playing around with the location of the junction box. While Dan's placement atop his propane tank works well with his setup, I can't bring myself to place it on top. I am going back to considering the position in my first photograph, but on the opposite side of the C Channel at that location. I realize I would need a backer board cut to fit the space in the C- Channel and then mount the junction box to that. Any worries about water intrusion with it mounted sideways as pictured? I need to work with the existing wiring in the trailer as it is and it comes out on the flip side of the C - Channel in picture 1. If I use the location in picture 1 on the curbside of the tongue, then I have wires running underneath the C- Channel and it looks untidy. I would rather have the wires running on the interior of the tongue. Ultimately the whole set up is temporary, but that temporary might be a few years... cough gasp, choke.
