I am thinking about going to look at a ford flex within the next few days. Does anyone one here tow with one? Do you guys think it would make a good tow vehicle? 2009 Ford Flex SEL 3.5 L V6 detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/cto/5756677273.html I did email and ask if it has a tow package and it does. Tow rating is 4500lbs Is FWD instead of AWD does this matter for towing? here is some information I copy/pasted from the manual Class III towing Maximum GCWR, what is this?? gcwr? 9357 lb Trailer weight 4500 lb Tongue load 450 lb For towing trailers up to 3500 lb (1588 kg), use a weight carrying hitch and ball which uniformly spreads the trailer tongue loads through the vehicle’s underbody structure. For towing trailers over 3500 lb (1588 kg), up to 4500 lb (2042 kg), it is recommended to use a weight distributing hitch to increase front axle load while towing.

I think a Flex with tow capacity of 4500 (factory) would be a good tow vehicle for a vintage trailer. The long wheel base would make it stable on the road and very able to haul a small Shasta. They seem to be the *new* station wagon...

As far as front wheel drive vs awd I don't think it will make a difference on pavement, if you get in grass or mud you might need it

Definitely AWD. Just makes more sense for resale and campgrounds do not always have perfect roads...

Thanks guys, I think im going to keep looking. Im not in a hurry so I can wait for the right one to pop up. I have been reading some of them have ecoboost which seems like something I might want. More reading to do.. But I do love the look and the trunk space and the low roof height so I can put some kayaks or bikes up there. I hope I can find one with all the features I want
