Anytime you are in the SE Missouri area just stop by. Always around to share a coffee or beer (IPA). Looking forward to it :-)

Looking forward to it :-) I dont know that I will ever get that far south, but if I do, I will be sure to get in contact with You. Sounds like a good time can be had. Even though I don`t drink any alkeehol, I can still have a lot of fun. LOL That invitation is open to You and the rest of the members of the forum. You just never know, Might even throw the boat in the river and go for a drive. Maybe a Walleye or a catfish can be had out of there.

Hey, I am about 100 miles south of St. Louis down I-55. And of course anybody here is welcome to stop in. If you are down I-44 Hairba11 you could cut over on those winding back roads. Sometimes in Missouri you can't get there from here.
That is why I offered coffee or beer, either works for me. A good time can be had either way.
Once I was visiting a friend in Arkansas and decided to take the back roads. 6 hours later I decided it would have been quicker to go to Memphis and then north on I-55. But back roads can be fun at times.

Frame finished welding. Should get it painted and axle mounted by Tuesday. Here are some pictures of the tongue in and then fully extended. With the tongue fully extended and including the rear deck for extra outside storage the length is 19' 4", Hopefully I will be able to tow with it retracted and a total towing length of 17' 4".

A work of some real beauty there decodan. Most hitches is the two legs spread to the main frame. A hitch like that will never stress. that is one mighty tough looking trailer.

Shame to even build a trailer on that frame. Work of art.

So I might have missed it, is the extended tongue for the dome clearing the tow vehicle, then retracts when parked?

Yes, I figured that extending the tongue was a better way to get the clearance for the "Dome". If I were to use one of the hitch extenders it moves the weight further away from the tow vehicle rear axle. Towing with a regular car with trunk would not be a problem, even a pickup works most of the time but I plan to use a 1952 Suburban so clearance was going to be a problem.

Boy, that`ll be a sharp looking set. The 52 Suburban and the Shasta. A friend had a 52-54 Suburban, is was 4 wheel drive. I guess it came from the factory with the 4 wheel drive option. He wanted $1,200.00 for it and it ran very well. I think it must have been the 54 as it had the pressurized oiling system in the engine.

The four wheel drive vehicles of that era were by NAPCO which was an aftermarket company that made 4x4 units for several manufacturers. I think in the late 50s GM started offering the option as a special order. I wish I had a NAPCO conversion, they are way cool. I am doing some body modifications on mine so it does not look like anything someone else has. It will have two 1947 Buick grills, one upside down on top of the other. Here is picture.

MrMarty51, I forgot to ask, is the Suburban still available? I am guessing not but had to ask.
