Found the glazing strip for the back window of our 62 compact. Fits perfectly, same profile as original and despite the name, it is light gray not clear. Very supple, easy to work with. This is for a fixed (non-opening) window. It is at Vintage Trailer Supply. Called Hehr Clear-View Glazing Strip. Only available in 24' and 48' foot rolls. $29.99 for the 24' package. The description threw me off because they said it was for Air Streams. www.vintagetrailersupply.com/Hehr_Clear_View_Window_Strip_p/vts-196.htmOld glazing strip on left, new on right. Sorry for bad pic. Showing fit in groove

I have the back window out of my 62 compact to polish and I would like to replace the glazing strip. I did order some from vts.As you can see form the pics the old glazing strip doesn't go to the edge, and I'm not sure how good of a seal it is giving. Can I replace the glazing strip without removing the glass? The window doesn't leak now, and I'm not sure I want to mess around with it too much. Thanks shasta window by ToddG58, on Flickr

No need to remove or replace the glass unless, like me, you break the glass trying to remove the glazing strip. I was almost done removing glazing strip when it broke. I replaced it with tempered glass. The old glazing strip had shrunk away from all the corners causing a leak in a lower corner.

No tips from here, but would you be willing to sell the leftover strip?

Hamlet, I haven't put the new strip in yet. Still trying to figure out how the glass is held in place. I'll see how it goes, I might decide to keep the leftover for future repairs

Showing fit in groove Hi callie, I think this is what I am needing to use on my back window too, I just wanted to see how its holding up? no leaks? and also did you you any other sealers? Stinks ill have to buy such a large roll for one window. Let me see how much I have left, could possibly sell the remainder to you? I don't need the left over (unless we break the window. Again.) since we sold the 18' Super, which uses same glazing strip on the front window. I'll get back to you by tomorrow. No leaks, or shrinkage, since we installed it. I did use a thin line of clear sealant right above the strip and in the corners where the strips meet. I can't remember what I used, maybe tempro? It was whatever Vikx had recommended. Whatever it was, I should have put a strip of tape on the glass before applying. It got kinda messy. I also used that thin, real sticky, black butyl to attach the glass to the frame. I thought it was such a waste to get that big roll, but it's almost gone now! We use it to stick a lot of stuff together around the house and even molding back on cars. It sticks pretty much anything together! The water fill lid didn't have the clamp to hold it on, so I used the black butyl and that lid will probably never come off. There isn't a water tank anymore so don't need access. Just an example of the many uses for the left over black glass butyl.

65callie all great to know, thank you. And yes I would love to buy you the rest off you if you find it, just let me know I have 15' 8" left out of the 24' roll, plenty for the back window. If $12 (including shipping) is ok with you, let me know and you can PayPal me or send a check. No obligation to buy of course. Something I wondered about after using this: would doing a butt joint, instead of a miter joint, be a better fit? I did the miter cut, because that's what was original, but wonder if there's any problem using a butt joint? Certainly easier to get a good tight fit. Maybe. Here's what I have left (15 feet + 8 inches):
