I'm hoping to tow home a new to me Shasta within the next few weeks! Unfortunately there's no title to be found. Judging by the windows, features, length, width, & aluminum screen door, it's my guess that it's 1961 - 1964 Airflyte. The tongue unfortunately is pretty badly rusted so the VIN isn't immediately obvious in either of the two locations on the tongue. Before I take a wire brush to it, are there any tricks that I should keep in mind that might be helpful? Anything that I should NOT do to avoid wiping it away completely? Also under the sink are the following painted on by stencil: 6-29-6 FED Is this the "date" that Shasta owners often talk about? If it is a date, how is it interpreted? I haven't removed the mirror yet to check for a date behind that. Thanks for any help or suggestions! Charlie

Mine is a 62, and there is a plate on the inner, road side of the tongue. It's obvious (at least on mine). It was completely covered in rust. I put a wire wheel on the drill and hit it with that and it brought it right out.

Some wire brushing and wiping with mineral spirits brought it out. I'll add it to the VIN collection thread.
Thanks! Charlie
