There's a tag on top of my 83 Friendship 16 hitch that reads 1TS2A4477D9006375.

Yes, that is the vin# for your Shasta. I logged it in to my Shasta Vin# Database and it is showing that you have a 1981 Shasta.
Does the title state that it is an '83 or that is what you were told by the previous owner?

The build she et inside the cabinet door which has a list of options installed, refrigerator, stove, etc. Shows the build date of 4-14-83. Vin number on this sheet matches the one on frame.

77markv This is great info. I will change the database to reflect this findings. In the early building of the database, I had to go by what the owners were saying and as the database grew, an established pattern started to become visible. This is what really helps with the database, is factual manufacturing dates. Thanks again!!

No problem Ross. I have a question tho. This trailer was given to me by two brothers. They said there was no title and they had never got around to filing as the trailer was unusable at the time. Is there any way to tell if there are any issues with the title.

Sounds like there never was a title for your Shasta. The best thing to do is to check with your local DMV and apply for a title. Once you fill out some paper work, they will send out or you take it to an Officer with the Department of Theft and Recovery (at least that what we have in North Carolina)and they will run the vin# to see if there are any issues. If not, you will have a clean title.
The other option is to apply for a Bonded Title. They will issue you a new vin# and it must be stamped into the axle and tongue of the trailer. They may also still run the original vin# to see if there are any problems. Again, this is what I have experienced here in North Carolina.
The best thing to do is to see what you need to do at your local DMV.

Will do. I'll let you know what happens. I do know the brothers are not the original owners. There were some letters on the back that read "The Irwin Family". Might be the original owner.

Well, I decided decided to give up on her. I have no idea what I'm doing on the whole vin check thing. Probably no chance of getting a title for it since I have no idea who the original owner is. I don't even have a bill of sale as it was given to me. Even as good a shape it's in, it would still need at least another 1000 put into it. Gas line is crushed in one spot. Cut off where it connects to the water heater. No regulator. No water heater. Plumbing is cut in a few places. No toilet. No bathroom sink. One of the holding tanks underneath is cracked at the pipe where it goes to the other tank from sitting so close to the ground. Moved it to the back yard yesterday and the two metal skids snapped off the frame. Probably put there to guard the rear tank. Accidentally knocked off one off the outside lights because of a 2 inch stump sticking up from an old bush. Just figured sine the little one wanted me to build her a playhouse, this would probably be even better. Lights and refrigerator still work. Even at the very least, it would make for good storage. These trailers are kinda neat but in the end, I'm just not really interested. Old trailers are not really my bag. Thanks for all the help tho. Never knew there was an interest in old trailers outside of the airstream.

Hate to see you give up, but do understand. I had to let go of my 1929 Ford Model A Tudor project. I took it as far as I could, invested more money than I got out of it, once I sold it a month or so back.
