I'm considering a 1965 Arrow Little Chief camper. Not sure what the camper weighs. Would my 2016 RAV4 safely tow this camper? Anyone know? I believe the tow rating on my RAV4 is 1500lb

In my opinion the answer is no. You not only have to consider weight but also wind resistance and terrain when pulling a trailer. These ratings are for level ground, no hills. Also the short wheelbase will make it less stable to tow with. I never suggest pulling over 50% of rated weight including load.

I agree with bigbill about the short wheelbase. Is yours the 12' or 14'?

NO. I have a Toyota Highlander and wouldn't want anything smaller. Remember, both stopping and staying upright is a very good thing.

I believe the tow rating on my RAV4 is 1500lb Definitely NOT. Manufacturer's "tow rating" is a small fraction of the towing equation; things to consider when evaluating a safe tow vehicle. Just as an example, putting a bike rack in your RAV4's tow receiver and hanging a dirt bike motorcycle would exceed the acceptable tongue weight for that vehicle and possibly warp the unibody frame. NO!… RAV is not a tow vehicle.

Thanks for all the input. Think I have my answer. Now find out the dry weight and if you can, the tongue weight of your Arrow Chief. Then we can work on finding you a good tow vehicle. When shopping for travel trailers, we always want the car we have to work as the tow vehicle
