Aftermarket springs are pretty cheap. You could bring that back end down to parallel and add some airbags if it sagged while towing.

Yes in our area used truck prices are out of reason. A new unit not only has the factory warranty usually the interest is lower on the financing.

Gary, this may have already been mentioned. Check the tongue weight on your trailer. Figure you will add to that some where around 100 lbs extra. I'm guessing that would put your tongue weight in the 300-400 lb range. Keep in mind modern trucks aren't built like the old ones. Old ones had soft seats and stiff springs. Modern is opposite, stiff seats and soft springs. You may lose 2" when you add the tongue weight. Test it by having two big guys stand on the bumper.

Changed my mine. Now I remember why I have not owned a truck in 30 years.
With a truck you put something in the front of the bed you can not reach it but with an SUV you put something up front you open one of the side door to reach it.
With a truck you need a topper to keep things from getting wet or stolen. You need to remember to lock the topper. With an SUV you close the door, push the lock button everything stays dry and no need to deal with a topper.
Next problem SUVs are $64,000 new. Used SUVs on craigslist and ebay 2 years old with 200,000 miles price is $55,000. LOL. Used 10 years old 200,000 miles $25,000. LOL. Sellers are crazy.
$2000 repair bill for my 1999 chevy Tahoe solves the problem it only has 120K miles but I still want something different but I don't know what? I think my 17 years old SUV is starting to be a money pit.

We bought our Trailblazer at a year old in 09 for 20K, just ready to go out of warranty, at 34K miles. Granted, it is a bit on the light weight side for some trailers (5000lb tow capacity) but we absolutely love it. It is shorter than some SUVs and turns on a dime.
I think if you look around, you can find a decent SUV with low miles at a good price. At least I hope so. Keep us in the loop.

I bought my 1999 Chevy Tahoe 4WD 6 years ago for $5000. it had 94K miles on it.
Now it has 120K miles and it is worth $1000 more than I paid, this is the first time in history a vehicle is worth more 6 years later.
2 things happened, 1000s vehicles were destroyed 5 years ago that was something Obama did when gas prices jumped up to $3.50 per gallon plus the economy had crashed. Now the economy is getting better and inflation has doubled in 6 years.
New vehicle prices have doubled in 6 years and there are very few used vehicles for sale compared to 6 years ago.
I wish I had not sold my 67 Chevy truck.
