We completed our first outing to the Texas Hill Country in our '67 Shasta Compact this weekend with no drama --- it was a great trip, and we're ready to go again! Now we have more questions than before: Who's added a shower to their Compact, and what's involved? What's the purpose of the galvanized water tank forward of the LP heater, in the front of the trailer?
Thanks for all your help so far! Larry

That would be Hamlet. Great little shower stall. If the galvanized tank is fresh water, you might consider replacing it with an ABS tank. Plastic doesn't corrode.

I agree with vikx, hamlet will be a great source to provide excellent information about the creation of a bathroom in a Shasta Compact.

Larry You have one of the newer models, so there will be a bit more work involved, but it is still very possible, especially if you are doing a frame-off re-do. In order to get a space that's big enough for a porta potty, an instant water heater, and still be able to sit down and close the door, you will have to move the icebox/fridge BACK under the counter, which means reconfiguring some of the cabinetry there. The good news is that if you do a little more reconfiguring, you will gain back a lot of the storage space. The easiest way to show this is to have you look at a blog post our daughter did several years ago about Hamlet... www.howiseelife.com/blog/2011/06/20/trailerWe have been very pleased with the results, and it's been convenient and handy. We've even used the sprayer from the shower to rinse dishes when the water from the tank or the hose has been really cold. Works great. Let us know if you have any questions.

Great re-do on Hamlet, thanks for sharing your photos! I may need to find a different location for my refrigerator, since my wife's knees don't work so well anymore, but yes, I will need to re-locate my refrigerator to add a shower, and yes, I do have questions, thanks for asking: Is the shower floor pan a purchased product, or homemade? Does Hamlet have a gray-water tank, or do you require a hook-up to take a shower? Have you eliminated the fresh-water tank entirely by going to a tankless water heater? Is your tankless water heater LP only, or will it also use AC electricity?
Thanks again, Larry
