Anyone wired the original Bargman license plate light to also be a third brake light? VTS sells the red lens and with the right socket/bulb/wiring it would be a more period correct option.
I've reasoned my way out of the interior installed light due to the window screen/curtain awkwardness.

Wonder if a vintage motorcycle fender-mount brake light would work. Something like this or one of the alternatives on the right hand side. www.jpcycles.com/product/3400521Yes!… I've been looking at those too and certainly would work fit-wise. They tend to be rather large though… often 8" in length. If you look at my photo in the original post above, those round tail lights are about 4" in diameter. A fender mount might look out of scale. But these are all great ideas, I'm just not sure if I want to go "subtle" or make a statement with the light. LOL...if you wanted to be subtle, you would have purchased a cookie-cutter contemporary camper and been done with it. You are making a bold statement by pulling your vintage Mobile Scout behind you. Sometimes bigger is better. And everybody is already looking at you and your camper.

I've reasoned my way out of the interior installed light due to the window screen/curtain awkwardness. I worked for the Florida Department of Transportation for 2 years as a District Safety Programs Administrator, while waiting for Safety Work to pick back up in the Oil and Gas Industry and darned if I can remember for sure, but I think the Highway Patrol in Fla.frowned on anything but clear/white lenses for the trailer tag holder light. A red lens would not properly light up the tag, making it harder for the law to check out the number and expiration date. Might want to check the laws in your State on the lens color before going red.

Here is our third brake light solution that satisfies both the legal white light license plate illumination problem while staying period correct. We will use a “Vehicle to vehicle tail light converter” from etrailer and the original Bargman license plate light with a new socket for a two filament bulb. We will also purchase a new red lens from VTS since our original license plate light has the metal cover. This set up will provide a WHITE light below to the license plate and a red light behind. Red lens is here: www.vintagetrailersupply.com/Trail_Lite_4_Lens_p/vts-110.htmSee the license plate light (attached to the backet) on this VTS page: www.vintagetrailersupply.com/Bargman_Trail_Lite_5_License_Bracket_p/vts-536.htm
