Watching all this towing is making me miss Soup, 'cause he always provided a theme song to go along with. Soup, are you out there?

It has happened AGAIN.... Do you have the hitch on a block of wood with a 4x4 as cross support? Have any photos? How did you get it on hitch first with this type of hauler? Sorry if that's a silly question. And how long is your hauler? Around 15'.

nccamper, sorry this photo set took all day.... This is the first time I have loaded one nose first. My intent was to hook it up to the truck and back it onto the trailer, like I have done in the past, (mostly so I will be able to UNload it after the trip....) but I was on site without the 2" hitch receiver....sorta screwed. Instead we backed up to where it was and turned it to the trailer and winched it up. It was quite a process to try to steer it on rough ground and line the trailer rails up to the tires all at the same time. That 8500-lb winch is quite a tool. There is no center of this hauler...open space and frame rails/axles between the surface for car tires to ride on. Width of the camper axle is kinda a important factor... We pulled the camper up to the rear and then set a plank to act as a ramp. We winched it from the safety chains to keep it centered. When the jack wheel cleared the rear, it stayed neatly in the middle till we ran out of the first plank, then bumped it up onto a second one. In miraculous fashion, it steered straight up and it did not go through the old planks! Once it was winched all the way forward, the jack wheel was on the (rotten) plank out over nothing...with a 7 or 8 inch clearance above the center frame rail. I stuffed the 4X4 underneath the wheel, in case it broke through the plank. The 6X6 you see in the photo was placed across the "deck" beneath the A-frame of the camper. It was not touching anything and was a safety in case everything else failed, the camper would not fall any further than the 6X6. I had it strapped down with a ratchet strap, wound in with the chains. What you see is where it ended up after the trip. If it were not wrapped at both ends it probably would have been in someone's grill. (Notice the "product placement" in my photo...wish I were getting paid for the advertising...That was not there when we got home by the way...) Another factor about this trip ... notice how far back the camper axle is. It made for a lot of tongue weight on the truck. I imagine the camper itself is pretty tongue heavy. This animal is going to be a real trip to the beach to unload alone...Hope someone wants to buy it and have it delivered. That is the only way I'll get any help getting it off. Hey, maybe they'll want to buy the hauler trailer too!...Hmmmm.

I miss Soup too....his theme music seemed to come so naturally, and i spent all day trying to add some to this adventure...but to no avail. Maybe I'll get inspired tomorrow....

Dang, that's gnarly, Dude. How are you going to get that camper off the trailer? Be it far from me to suggest something and I speak from no experience, LOL, could you lower the tongue onto a crossways 6 x 6 and chain the tongue to it, then drag the camper off the trailer. If the 6 x 6 spanned the center gap, then could you tension the winch cable as you let it off the trailer? Anchor a strap or chain to the rear of the trailer and pull it off slowly.... somehow while releasing tension on the winch cable at the same time? I guess, since the trailer is now at your place, you could try building a stout wood center "rail" support under the trailer for the tongue jack wheel to roll on. That would support the tongue for the camper's removal. Again, I speak from absolutely no experience. Curious to see how you do it, Ten.

Ten, great photos. Ingenious.
I considered a decked hauler recently but I don't really have the space to store it. And it would make buying vintage campers too easy.

We passed one that was for sale on the way to get this camper...it was something like this: I would definitely need a bigger truck...and a bigger yard....and a good divorce lawyer....

Vehicle insurance usually covers the trailer liability but not the trailer or it's contents
