Our tow vehicle for our 1957 Rainbow. It was bought in 1980 by my parents, my brother had it in college, my husband had it for a short time and then it was my father in-law's retirement project and now it's ours. My father in law rebuilt the diesel engine. It still needs some work but it would be a nice set with the ham. It lacks certain modern safety features, seat belts with shoulder restraints for one, so we're likely to only use it for short distances.

Swap the front seats for a set of buckets out of a early 2000s Silverado the seat belt shoulder harness was a part of the seat all you have to do is bolt them down with a steel plate at least 3 inches in diameter under the floor to keep the bolts from tearing out in case of an accident. The scout will make a decent tow vehicle. I had a 1974 Scout top of the line model that we towed with for three years and loved it clear up until the gas engine died. It was loaded A/C,cruise, power windows and 4wd.
