Hey y'all, Had to replace the rear skin on my Compact so now need to finish the stripping. The stripes on the front and sides are a medium gray/light gray in color, 2 inches wide. Going to use automotive stripping tape and can get a medium gray as well as a silver metallic. Have seen some Shastas where the stripe is actually bare aluminum that has been polished but do not want to get into that. My Compact is yellow and white. What would have been correct if anyone knows ? Thanks Mike

I believe my '62 stripe was painted silver originally. There was so little paint left on my trailer, it was kind of hard to tell.

Mine was also without paint. I think it looks good as polished metal.

I just assumed my strip paint had had all worn off. It's the only thing I have left to paint and it has to be painted since there's two bullet holes (now filled) in it in the door.

Thanks y'all ! I would polish it except don't want to get into that much work and maybe mess up my good white and yellow. Sounds like the silver metallic is the way to go ! Regards, Mike

My '61 was originally white on white (top and bottom. The stripe (also original) is a dull silver/grey (I'm colorblind), definitely finished in some way, not just bare aluminum.

Thought I would post an after thought on this. Bought a 2 inch wide automotive grade stripping tape and it works fantastic. I used what they call silver metallic and looks great. Purchased a 50 foot roll from www.masterstripe.com for $29.00 plus $8.00 shipping and very pleased with results. Have a bunch of different colors available. Easy to apply and a 3M product so you know it is good quality. Regards Mike
