Do flush mounted wings have better "Staying power"? We are redoing our Compact and I am about to buy new wings. It seems like I could just cut the jrail and go flush at this point if it's better. Second question, where is the best place to buy them? Tyler does a great job but $280 isn't cheap. Are their alternatives? Or the best just costs more? nastyshasty.blogspot.com/search/label/WINGS%20-%20For%20Sale%20%28Shasta%29

I had flush mount on the Deluxe, done by the PO. They were very sturdy and easier to seal than the stand off type. I don't like the debris that can collect behind stand off wings. That being said, either mount is fine, depends on your opinion. (From my Photobucket album: click forward and back to view the entire wing install sequence) Original is always good, and they look like they belong. Tylers wings are VERY NICE. I like them and if buying new, would go with his set.

I was waiting for another comment before I said, "How dare you!" Yours was all there original (except maybe the wings) and you've kept it that way, so seriously, in my heart, I stay say true to the year.

Man.. I would not go flush mount..Sealing three holes from the mounts penetration is better done than an entire surface area in my books anyway. I picked up some "spacer" product at our local Ace hardware. At first I was cutting stiff hose and taping up the existing stuff I had and then one day while buying some screws I found a bunch of different things in the screw and bolt section.. And if you keep it under 80 mph I don’t think your wings will come off either. Mine haven’t.

I will probably go with the spacer system, as it was originally, but it seems really flimsy. If I see any of you riding behind me on the highway waiting for them to fly off, I'll be disappointed.

Do a Google search for standoff hardware. Lots of choices.

RinTin, I may just go with the Tyler wings which come with the hardware. But thanks for the suggestion. I didn't know there was more than one option.
Vikx, I love your pictorial on wings. Very helpful. But if I switch to the flush mount, SusieQ won't talk to me ever again.

I'm going to mount one wing one way and one the other. This way at least one will stay on the camper...plus VIkx and SusieQ will still speak to me.
