Welcome sisterbreeze63! As you can see, we're VERY INTERESTED in photos here.
Don't worry about posting and where, it's our job to keep things organized. Takes a little while to get used to all the categories...
I'll probably move this to Shasta Owner Talk. If you see a moved thread, just click on the link inside, it will take you to the new location.

I posted this thread to help you where you asked this question in oliver's thread/post www.rollinvintage.com/index.php?/category/363I believe those are typical original 1961 Shasta Astrodome cushions. Not the original fabric, but original cushions recovered.

Vintagebruce, thanks for the link. That is my baby!!! Want to keep the original paint as it issuch a soft pretty yellow, will just clean it up. Curious if original seat covers were all cloth or vinyl or combo. Oh yes, and floor tile, only things that need to be replaced.

Ladywendolyn, yes I have to completely rebuild the back gaucho and cushions. The front gaucho has basic frame and what appears to be bottom of slide out for bed cushions but no idea what came out or was there for back cushions to lay on when in bed position. From brochure it appears each sitting area was upholstered in different style. Like to keep original looking but really hard to picture with limited info. Sure appreciate your help!

Gaucho Seat Questions - i have a 59 Shasta Airflyte. I am trying to restore as best I can to original in appearance so I would like to keep restore the Gaucho seat to look like it did when coming off the line. My questions are more about the mattress functionality than the support frame itself. Like many of these gems there was a regular house mattress used and gaucho cushions trashed, so trying to find information and pics on the originals is difficult. So, I am trying to find out how the original mattress functioned when it was a "bed" and a "Couch". Were the 3 cushions connected all on the same side when they were manufactured?
In a couch position - Were both of the smaller cushions unfolded and up in the back of the camper (one above the other on the back wall) or were they folded up so that the smaller cushions were back to back. Not sure i'm making sense but thought someone else could give it a try to explain to me.

Welcome Speak.
I understand your questions but don't have the answers right at the moment. Most of the time, the two smaller cushions folded back to back with the larger one sitting on the bench. Does this help?
Not sure on the connection side, but they were all originally connected at the factory. I've re-done them disconnected (seamstress is cranky) and they seem to work fine. Trick is to have a solid memory foam piece when it's used as a bed.

I think the older Airflytes is a little shorter than this pic, bit the width should be the same. And you can see the cushion configuration.

Gaucho Seat - (Vikx) - Thanks for the information. You confirmed my question on the two smaller cushions when the gaucho is used as a couch with the two back to back. The diagram by Mel will also help. I will take some measurements which should help as well.
Memory foam may be a great option. Do you suggest having another piece of memory foam that goes over the cushions as pictured in the diagram when using the gaucho as a bed? If so, if i keep the cushions as suggested in the diagram at 6" then would you suggest a 1 inch overlay of memory foam.
Thanks Vikx - heard a lot of positive about the site through Larry at Mobiltec. Appreciate all the help. Between you, Larry and a little extra time i'll get this project finished.
I'm still trying to get used to the site so excuse any mistakes.

I think the older Airflytes is a little shorter than this pic, bit the width should be the same. And you can see the cushion configuration. Thanks mel this is the diagram I was trying to find, too, and it was driving me nuts not having enough time to look. The 16SC had the gaucho located along the curbside wall, while the Airflyte gaucho is located along the rear. Thus there may have been a slight difference. Depends mostly on your tape measure. "Measure twice, cut once". I have a similar cushion setup and I have used a regular mattress topper of memory foam over it, it sleeps really comfortabley. My only problem is it is a queensize topper and I am too cheap to cut it down to fit....In case I need it at home for our bed.
