My Shasta 1400 and I finally landed in Rochester, MN this past fall after moving for a job and sadly I didn't get a place to properly store it before winter hit. It's the first year that I've owned it that it's been exposed to the elements :[. I thought tarping it in my driveway was too much for the neighbors to weather for months, themselves. So, this spring I need to really start working on some remaining issues I have with it, including opening up the skin and replacing rotted framing...and then some skin that was has been damaged over the years, and exterior painting. I'd really love some support locally from fellow restorers if there are any in Minnesota (you have to be out there, right?!). This cold, cold winter watching the Shasta get hit with snow and ice was too much for me! Ha, so cheer a gal up and let me know if you are in the area! Let's connect and swap stories (and sometimes heartache) of working on our trailers! Thanks, all, in advance!! AND! I almost forgot! I moved out here to work in historic preservation and I have a unique opportunity right now to transform a 1940's cabin court and diner into a vintage camping destination. Are you local? Would you be interested in exploring this idea with me? Be in touch! Thanks again!

I am in Winnipeg Canada, a few hours a way. We have the same winter. I come down to the USA every few months to shop and pick up my vintage trailer items that I have ordered from e-bay. We buy white tarps to keep the eye-sore look away. If I get close to your location this summer, I will look you up to see your progress. I am restoring a 13 foot Glendale, which is the Canadian version of a Shasta. Welcome to the group...

Oh, a white tarp may be a good idea! I had that rear window resealed and new glass put in and it's still just a weak spot. Boo!
Thanks, stay in touch about when you'll be around. Do you have photos of your work anywhere?

Welcome to Minnesota. I am in Owatonna, about 30/40 minutes from Rochester. I have restored a 64 Shasta Compact and a 59 Shasta Airflyte. My daughter just got a 60 Holiday House trailer that we are still figuring out how to get the restoration done on. There is a Minnesota group on Facebook at this link: www.facebook.com/groups/campersmn/ which is an informal group. There are around 6 camping events planned each summer. Join us if you like. My interest is peaked in your 1940's cabin court and diner restoration. Where is it located?Tell me more.

My wife and I live in Lake Okoboji IA. We're just 9 miles south of the Minnesota border. We are working on restoring a 64 Shasta. Added on to our garage and it makes it nice to work on in winter. Electric bill is sky high though.

However, glad it's in good hands. I just joined the MN group. The diner/cabin court is within Rochester city limits on the old 52. Send me a pm to discuss further, please! I'd really like to meet up. Owatonna is within the region I work, too.
