New to everything RV related - bought her on a whim at the end of summer for $2000. Put some new flooring in, new cushions and curtains and did an overall refresh of the interior. Noticing over the winter storage here that I have a couple leakage issues - right above the door and in the front drivers side corner. Not sure what course of action will be but I know my first step will be studying all the great info on here.

Oh, I like the interior. It's not at all what I expected. You did a nice a job with the curtains and cushions. And I like the white backsplash much better than the original.

I hope you will keep us loaded full of photos of this as you progress. The later-model Shastas, after 1975, were built by Coachmen. Their layouts changed over the years from the original Shasta layouts to the likes of yours. I have not seen too many of these around, but I like the looks of the Daisy and the Friendship models. I believe your leakage issues will likely require the same cures as the older trailers do. Pull the j-rails, and the door frames, and the windows, and the vents...replace the putty tape. If there is one leak there will be more, so prepare yourself to do all the openings. Your decorating has worked great, changed the look completely and cleaned up on that early-80's feel. Taking into consideration the time when it was built, the original look isn't that bad, but I gotta agree that the white backsplash classes it up a lot!
Question: Is the rooftop unit also a heater, or just A/C? Seems like a combo unit would be a great solution to the heater questions. Just wondering what they did do with them.
(P.S. NC wasn't kidding about the "in pieces in no time"...... We all want for you to fit right in with all of us!)

Yeah when we got her I did some research and found out she wasn't a "true Shasta".
The rooftop unit is a Coleman A/C unit - there is a floor propane heater.
Definitely a scary feeling thinking about taking her apart - necessary to extend the life though.

Hi Dan
I have heard and seen so little about other Friendship 16s out there - thought mine might have been the only one!
I just went and had a look and mine has the Hydroflame 7912F installed in it. A quick google brought up the manuals needed for it as well.
Would love to see some pictures of your trailer if you have time

Great looking Shasta! I think I finally found the right forum since I recently purchased an 83 Shasta Friendship 15 (or so we believe). Mine has a propane heater already but no AC. How do you like the rooftop AC? Any leaking around seam, etc? Love how you did cushions and curtains. Looks cozy!

We have a Shasta Friendship 16. Every year of disuse makes it go downhill more and more. I love the camper and want to renovate it, but don't know if I'm skilled enough. I'll try posting pictures. The mice moved in and some leeks. I have to find the leeks, seal them, then work on replacing rotted framework. Gave it a bath last week and changed a flat tire. In one of the pics you can see how green and neglected it has become. I hope I can turn its fate around. photos.app.goo.gl/fbHvf2gLu4m4sYCS6photos.app.goo.gl/tJa6ryK71WmCUY4x5

We bought the same style Friendship 16 a few years back(I think around 2014). It’s such a neat little trailer and really becoming retro but with a lot of great current features. Ours is a 1983 and is sitting really low to the ground and dragging the back end a lot. I was considering flipping the axle on top of the springs but the local spring shop said it would be safer to rebuild the springs and add more arch. The first picture in this column shows the Shasta with a lot of height, I LOVE the way it looks and I am sure it would be way easier to get into places with it being higher in the air like that. Adam, do you know if the axel is under the springs or on top of the springs on yours? Anyone else having issues with the friendship sitting too low? I was going to post a picture of mine but I am having a hard time figuring out how to add it to this post. btw I know I would have to weld new perches to the top of the axle. I have seen some new trailers with the off road package with the axels on top of the springs so I would assume it would be ok...
