I am asking all of you to help improve our 12 step program. It is paramount that we help our members!!
1. Check Craigslist multiple times daily. You never know...

2. Train a spotter. Seeing these old trailers parked in their "natural habitat"...that is, ignored and lonely, in peoples' back lots and sheds is exciting, but can also be a traffic hazard if you spend too much of your commute staring into private lots instead of paying attention to the road. Whenever possible, make sure your spouse is, if not equally addicted as you, is at least keen-of-eye enough to notice them where they are parked. (My wife even knows when they're Shasta or not...)

My wife spotted our latest Shasta parked out behind a barn in a horse pasture while we were taking a different way home than usual. $300.00 later it was in the driveway.

3. Face the fact that one is not enough. But don't admit it to your spouse.
Let them learn the truth the hard way...when the yard fills up.

4. Be prepared to use the egg money for repairs. And the piggy bank, breadbox stash, garage sale income and raffle of your first born.

5. Learn to "appear" disinterested, even disgusted at the condition of an old trailer you're looking at buying (even when you know you're looking at the deal of the centruy and are having heart palpitations)

Have you ever tried to look disinterested when the seller knows you just flew 2000 miles and rented a car to come see it? Not that easy!

It's a damn sickness and I caught it from "you folks" Poker face, poker face, I don't really need this trailer, poker face

Finding trailers is the easy part.
The harder part is finding a secure storage area, so that you can hide them from your wife! Then you can just pull them out when you have the time to rebuild. You actually need to be prepared to buy when you see them, but need the storage to even out the supply chain.
Fortunately, my wife is into the vintage trailer thing, even worse than me! LOL

Too funny, JP! Now we have dual addictions....
I'll add another step: Keep multiple ball mounts in your truck, 1 7/8", 2" balls. A set of extra "towing lights" is a plus, duct tape, baling wire..
Oh heck, just prepare a Find the Trailer kit!

Oh heck, just prepare a Find the Trailer kit! Great Minds Think Alike. I have all of that AND a universal license plate that is registered. Yep just the plate is registered and I use that to move trailers with. Got the different hitches and balls and temp lights and always keep that stuff in the back of my van with tools, duct tape, bailing wire and other assorted hose clamps and stuff. You just never know when you will run across a trailer that wants to go home with you. It's best to be prepared for such occasions. Never give a seller time to have second thoughts.

Here is my 12 step program, modelled after the AA program.
1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol - that our lives had become unmanageable. OK I ADMIT I AM POWERLESS TO STOP BUYING TRAILER STUFF AND MY LIFE HAS BECOME UNMANAGEABLE.. BUT I LIKE IT THIS WAY!
2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. I HAVE COME TO BELIEVE THAT ONLY A FRAME UP RESTORATION CAN RESTORE ME TO SANITY
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him. I HAVE MADE A DECISION TO ASK GOD TO HELP ME WHENEVER I START LOSING IT IN THIS PROCESS AND ALSO THAT I WIN EVERY EBAY ITEM I BID ON!
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. I HAVE MADE A FEARLESS INVENTORY OF MY TRAILER ACCESSORIES.
5. Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. I ADMIT TO GOD AND ALL OF YOU THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS ADDICTION.
6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character. I NEED TO WORK ON THIS ONE... AFTER I FINISH THE FRAME UP RESTORATION.
7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings. I AM ASKING GOD TO HELP ME REMOVE CORROSION FROM MY ALUMINUM WINDOWS. I HOPE THIS COUNTS!
8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all. ALL THOSE PEOPLE ON EBAY WHO LOST TO ME, ALL MY FACE-BOOK FRIENDS WHO ARE SICK OF MY VINTAGE TRAILER PHOTO POSTS, MY NEIGHBOURS WHO HAVE TO LOOK AT IT, MY FAMILY WHO THINKS I HAVE LOST MY MIND.. YUP THATS IT.
9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. I HAVE DECIDED TO LET THEM ALL TOUR MY TRAILER WHEN COMPLETE.. I HOPE THAT THEN THEY WILL UNDERSTAND.
10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it. I CONTINUE TO MAKE LISTS OF MORE ITEMS I WOULD LIKE FOR MY TRAILER.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out. I AM THINKING THAT A VINTAGE TRAILER, ON A BEAUTIFUL LAKEFRONT SITE, WILL BE A GREAT PLACE TO WORK ON THIS!
12.Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics and to practice these principles in all our affairs. I PROMISE TO CONTINUE TO BE PART OF THIS SITE AND MEET WITH OTHER VINTAGE TRAILERHOLICS ON A REGULAR BASIS!
WOW .. I FEEL BETTER ALL READY !

Tell yourself you can always sell one of your trailers if you need to. Even if the answer is "NO! NEVER!"
