Hi everyone- I'm a newbie here. So excited to buy my first trailer! I've been dreaming of having my own vintage trailer for years, and finally bit the bullet and bought one on ebay. She's a beautiful rejuvenated 1959 Kenskill... And she is 1500 miles away. I am needing to have her shipped to me, and my question for all of you experienced trailer lovers- is there a large benefit of open shipping vs tow away vs closed? It has new tires, but I just don't know if I want to risk the tow-away. Any experience using uship?
Thanks!!!

Welcome to the board and congrats on your new Kenskill. I always tow my own so I can't offer any advice on shipping. My problem is I don't trust others to tow my trailers. Post some pictures when you get them, we love pictures.

I hope it all works out for you.
All I see is red flags!
1) You bought it on eBay.
2) Sounds to me like it was not inspected by you before the sale was completed.
3) What the heck does "rejuvenated" really mean?
4) It was 1500 miles away, and you still bought it without a plan for picking it up?
5) How do you really know that it's ready for a 1500 miles trip unless you check it out.
6) You might want to consider driving a pick up out to get it, rent a U-Haul car trailer "one way", put the new trailer on the car trailer and tow it home.
7) I agree with BigBill, no one tows my trailers, rides my motorcycle, or dates my wife.

to VTT. If you scroll down to the bottom of the For Sale For Trade section under Vendor Reviews, you can read my response to turbodaddy who had somewhat the same question. If you should consider U-Ship when you are seeking haulers to make a bid on your delivery one of the things that they the successful bidder for your delivery will want to know is the condition of the trailer to be towed. Gather all the info from the e-Bay sale as the basis of what you would be able to "tell them" about the condition. I would imagine that the least expensive way to get the camper delivered would be to have it towed as a pull behind. I would think if a hauler has to trailer your trailer on their equipment, be it open or enclosed transport, the price will have to reflect the wear and use of their equipment and the cost associated with the tow vehicle itself. Depending on the size of the Kenskill, some haulers might have a trailer large enough to load your Kenskill as well as incorporate other items for another client, such as a classic car or even another smaller camper on their one trailer...a combined load should cost less than a single camper/single client haul. Kelle at Littlevintagecamper a vintage camper web site has personal experience having a vintage camper of hers shipped in a haul that also included a classic car owned by another customer...if you contact her and mention that safetybruce my old name from the VSTF an older Camper Forum suggested you contact her and ask about her experience, maybe she can advise you. Congratulations on your purchase. I hope you are able to arrange a suitable hauler. I don't know where your camper is or where it is going, but you might want to send a Member named Soup a PM, Private Message and ask him for guidance, he has been known to make some pick-ups and deliveries in the past and might be able to give guidance about what to expect this time of year on the route your camper will travel. If push comes to shove, and I know you don't want to hear this, depending how much bad weather is already in the area where your purchase is...you might need to fly there where the trailer is, and arrange safe and secure winter storage so you can make arrangements in the spring to have it delivered. If it is in So. Cal and will travel due east, you might be able to get it delivered and not contend with too much bad weather yet. Sorry about typos and spelling, I'm typing fast (with my 2 index fingers) and may miss something in a quick proofread.
