Hamlet's hitch definitely takes a 2" ball.

Just drove a puny 60 miles to Mobile Ala. to deliver my 1961 Compact to my favorite niece so she can convert it to a flash sale commercial arts camper. The 1 and 7/8th's inch ball towed it without any problems. Mine was built in Goshin. I checked it before I took off by raising the coupler while attached to the ball. As I cranked it up, it lifted the Ford Explorer frame once it passed level.
I'm standing by my 1961 Compact requiring a 1 7/8" ball.
Niece agreed to NOT paint over the nice birch interior inside the camper, or the deal is off. Cost for the camper to the Niece, a plate of devilled eggs and some of the best potato salad you would ever eat.
And yes, the Compact had her wings.
