So "Guys" anyone here contribute to the "Glamping with coleman or white gas stoves?
I just started collecting them and going to learn to rebuild and or restore them. What I like is how cheap you can buy them. Yard sales , flea Markets estate sales etc.
then when we are "Glamping" I can set up my display of working lanterns !!!

Its interesting to learn what the good ones are and the not so interesting ones.... I like anything older than the mid 70's. Just like the campers the older the more sought after. I am working on one now that stinks to high heaven of varnish... So I have my work cut out

I know there are a lot of iterations, some much older and different than others, this will be quite an adventure for you. I remember my Dad carrying the can of "white gas" on the camping trips, being able to buy it along the way, the Coleman funnel with the filter in the bottom too.

Vintage lanterns are highly collectable. We tried to use an old one of my parents once when tenting years ago and it blew up. Fortunately not standing next to it when it happened, but it blasted a hole through the top of our tarp. If I do up an old one for inside my trailer I think I will take John Palmers suggestion and wire it with a LCD flashlight build and battery.

Many of us "inherit" these lanterns with the trailers. Like the idea of sharing them; the good, the bad, the ugly. I'm gonna start taking pix.  |

As with other things the older the better but I seem to see a lot of 220 and 200 A's out there is what a lot of people have. I happen to really like the red lanterns. But also like the nickel plated bottom tank lanterns also. I will be camping in New Hampshire this weekend and I'm hoping to find a few up there |

I try to limit my collecting these days. My wife says I borderline a hoarder. I think I'm just good at collecting. I do have one cool WWII era army issue camp stove. I don't recall the brand. I picked up 2 200As a Bernzomatic dual Beam propane a Pheobus 475 and ..and a Humphry camper gas light. And a coleman 502 stove. One of the red 200a isn't shown here. But a great haul from a NH outdoor Flea Market  |
