I already have the paint to match. The green stripe is not a "Shasta" stripe as far as I can tell. And it was painted on with latex paint. The trailer originally was plain white.

Wow SusieQ...it looks much nicer in your pics than those in the ad! At full asking price I think it is an excellent buy! My only question is...did they throw in the cymbal?

She offered us the entire drum set but I was a little tight for space in my car (I've hauled a drum set in it before) and I had three wheels in the camper that we were walking over to camp in it on the way home. So, I passed.

Gas mileage with my tow vehicle was a rude awakening. I got 28+ miles on the way up and was down to 16 by the time I got home. My teardrop barely makes a dent in my gas mileage so I guess it will remain my long distance travel trailer. But on a positive note, it towed great. My friend was following me on the way home. We had to cross "the mountain" which is actually going over the Blue Ridge at Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park, a very steep and curvy up hill and even worse grade downhill with S like curves. At the bottom, my friend called me and the first words out of her mouth were "I am so impressed at how you handled that trailer going down the mountain. You pulled it like a pro." I gotta' give the Jeep some credit for that, too. The next challenge was the double S curve up the small unpaved mountain road to my house after crossing the single lane train bridge with an up and down at each end and then the single lane bridge over the creek. I did it without even a wince.

SusieQ, How many campers do you have? collect them? I only have 3 and my husband has cut me off. I've been traveling extensively in a teardrop for the past four years with my son who has outgrown the teardrop. I was looking for a fiberglass egg when I came across my 62 Compact. I wasn't planning on becoming a vintage restorer, I was just looking for something small and light to camp in. Once I got the 62 home, I was hooked, and obsessed and felt compelled to bring it back to it's vintage glory within reason such as keeping all the original "things." I will probably take the 65 to the Gulf Coast, my native home, and keep the 62 here for local camping trips.

Haha thats awesome, I originally wanted a boler, but then when I saw the shasta compact I changed my mind. But I did see a boler come up by me a few weeks ago for a good price, and I almost jumped on it, then I talked myself out of it lol. It was a lot less work, but I really love how you can make the shasta bed so big. Does the new shasta need a restore? or is it set to go?

No, the refrigerator is a fairly new GE and was installed by the family who had it before the seller to me. I'm not sure if it replaced a fridge or an icebox. Also, there is no gas lamp in this trailer and no sign of there ever being one. It has the U shaped benches that pull out into a big bed. The table is missing (TG the PO's didn't take a sawzall to it, VTT joke). The original emblem and the wings are missing. Someone probably sold them at some point before selling the trailer to the last PO. I think the drawer pulls may be new. They are not the Shasta ones that are in my 62, but I'm not sure what they are supposed to look like in the 65.

LOL...there I went again...while I was typing your answer shastajeff even provided pics...oh well this is my answer anyhoot...
I'm pretty sure that none of the next gen Shastas had the boomerang pulls. When the birch/ash/walnut? interiors were discontinued it was time for a change in the interior hardware...think they went to kind of a thin pounded metal look to the pulls. Half of the original pulls are missing on my Airflyte, but I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a bunch of 1st Gen pulls, hinges, slider knobs and closer thingies in one lot from a very kind VSTF Member when we were all active there.
