I have a very sad H.B McGinness trailer. I have removed all the skin and about to take it right down to frame to bring it inside the garage to rebuild. These trailers are rare i have come to find out, particularly the smaller ones. They were used as job trailers and were typically a custom order for companies. I am hoping to connect with anyone else that may have one of these canned hammed trailer. I am new here and still figuring it all out hope to post a pic in the near future.

New birch on the interior would look great. I'm pretty dang sure you have a late 40s trailer there. I'm looking at the windows. Those are 40s style windows. Are the metal skin nails twisty nails? Bet they are. There must have been a refrigerator under the right side of the counter. That's what the stack is for. Just needs a bed and dinette and maybe a closet next to the door if it doesn't have one now. Probably came painted on the inside from the factory. But I am a birch lover.

Yes twisty nails! I thought they ran out of screws lol. I was thinking a wood stove. will investigate in the morning further about that, there was a ceiling fan installed, the wiring is woven which had my friend say to me today that meant they must have used old wiring. Some of the windows need new cranks however some are still functioning. The title says 58 the tongue has 57 on it. but I have recently learned the company was building in 40's. They built very large trailers in Peterborough, Ont the even brought out a 10' wide i believe in 57. Finding info on the company is not easy. Friends read up on them in a museum.

Well I suppose they could have just been using new old stock parts and techniques LOL... You just never know about these old manufacturers. But it could have been re titled along the way. I have a 63 deville that is registered as a 61 Scamp and all the Scamps are fiberglass. This is a tin and stick and it's a Deville which had a very unique shape. So stuff happens over time and the DMV is not perfect and infallible by any means. What is the entire vin if you don't mind me asking... Just curious about this...

If the 157421 number is the one on the tongue and is on the frame itself and not the jack or the tongue hitch, that is probably the vin and the number 57 in it is probably not the year made.. The actual part of the number that is VIN would be 7421... 4 numbers were used back then and any other numbers usually designated things like the number off he line or the length of the trailer. In this case it would most likely be the length. So 15 foot trailer and vin number 7421... I bet you anything that is a late 40s trailer and the registration got screwed up somewhere along the line due to a lost title or something. Don't feel bad about it. That's a good thing. I have worked on several early forties trailers and I love them. Few and far between.... Somewhere in my videos is what I called "The Marlboro Trailer" because the paint job made it look like a pack of Marlboro cigarettes. I forget the actual name of the trailer right now... It was all metal inside and out including metal framing.
Oh and your top vent just screams late 40s or very early 50s.
So I would again guess 47 to 51...
