If you are going to put your License number on the roof make sure you put the state also or it won't do much good. You might be amazed if you really knew how much you and your stuff is viewed from aircraft, overhead cameras, and such. I live in a small town and they have cameras everywhere. We have had bank robberies and they arrested the person with in minutes because the had them on camera. The dispatch guided the patrol officers right to the felon. I don't think any of them have made it over a mile or two before being arrested. My wife worked for a company that developed pictures taken from extremely high altitudes and the even showed the cracks in the earth. Smile your on camera.

If you read the reviews on those locks, there is a least one person who said their trailer still got stolen with the lock on. Virtually all of the commonly available coupler locks can be removed in less than 2 minutes with a crowbar or other handy tool. Picking locks is also quite easy. The best bet is more than one theft deterrent… i.e., a coupler lock plus another lock keeping the pawl locked down… maybe also something on one of the wheels. Of course, "agreed value" insurance as your safety net… and GPS if you can swing it.

Bill, I have no doubt that our trailers can be spotted from the air. They are easy to see in Google Earth pics. My doubt lies within the priority of law enforcement. They would track a robber, maybe not a trailer just like they don't really look for stolen vehicles. I know someone who once had a car stolen in NOLA (New Orleans) and the cops basically told them they didn't look for stolen vehicles, they are too busy.

Oh well gang one thing for sure if you do paint your state and Lic. # on the top the chances are BETTER not WORSE of getting it spotted by SOMEONE who cares....so I picked green it shows great on white and we will be repainting her this summer anyway.
