How many campers show up?
When and where is it held?
Are they fun?
We think it may be worth a try at some point.

One of the largest is/was Pismo in Calif. Not sure if it's still on? There's another large rally in Oregon called Riverbend. I'm sure others will chime in with more...

8th Annual Pismo Vintage Trailer Rally, May 14-16, 2015
I would estimate about 350 Vintage Trailer's each year, and about half are towed by restored vintage vehicles. Trailer's "must be" 1979 or older, but many are from the 1940's.

Most rally's have Saturday, as an "open house" day to view the trailers for the public. The Pismo Rally gets thousands, yes I said THOUSANDS of people coming to look at the vintage trailer's during the open house day. They advertise on TV, the local Newspaper, and have buses shuttle people in from remote parking lots.
At Pismo, it's gotten a little crazy, some people put up signs reading, "This trailer is closed for Lunch". Most of the public are really nice and very interested, but some just open the door and barge right in, they have no idea the large amount of work that goes into a restored trailer. To make it even worse, our camp space is right next to the entry gate each year.

Just another reference...check the Tin Can Tourists site...they hold regional rallies. We are planning on going to the open house this Saturday at the Northeast Rally. We went last year, and saw all kinds of great trailers and people. Hoping to have a camper to go to one by next year.

How many campers do they expect?

Pismo sounds like the Big One. A little crazy, maybe. You would be on display all day, but it sounds fun. 3000 miles is a long way to go but it makes a great excuse for a 2 month road trip.
We might try something on the East coast first. I was wondering if it was a planned weekend with activities or something more relaxed with just people meeting to socialize. And if most had 20 campers or hundreds.

The Spooktacular Rally sponsored by Arizona Roundup is slowly increasing in attendance each year. It is held at Catalina State Park just north of Tucson October 23 thru 26. Probably will have 50 or more this year. Tear drops to Long Long Trailers, many canned hams! No shortage of sites and reservations not required.

I like the smaller more quaint type rallies myself. They are more like friends on a camp out..... I don't really like the crowds of "wuffos" stomping through my trailer. I didn't build it for them. You've probably seen my kinds of rallies in my vids. Actually the trailers I work on go to the rallies more than I do LOL...

From what people are telling me here, the big rallies seem a little crazyland for us. But I guess if somebody is proud of their work, it's a great place to show off.

Pismo is a "really nice" Vintage Rally.
It's held at a large five star RV resort, one of the top rated RV Resorts in the nation.
It's located ON THE BEACH, on the Pacific Ocean.
The location is in an area called the five cities area, and they have everything you would ever want all within a three mile radius. "Cheap gas" service stations, Antique shopping in very old vintage towns, to the best in sea food and Italian restaurants all within walking distance. And you can always people watch from the pier.
It's centrally located, half way between Northern, and Southern California. Many trailers attend from out of state.
Many trailers are towed "by restored" tow vehicles.
Some of the attending vehicles are museum Quality, such as the historic GM Futureliner, a 1900 electric powered "Beer Wagon" truck, and "Hand Built" art vehicles that Jay Leno has driven.
I almost forgot, you will see some of the best restored trailers in the nation, many from the 1940's.
It's a world famous beach area for kite flying.
The only downside I can see from thirty years of traveling in this area, is you need to plan for varied weather. It can be cold, misting, and blowing, or hot and nice, you never know. Since it's on the ocean, you need to plan for both. Awnings that also have detachable walls for wind blocks are very useful.
I would attend "even without a RV", just to check it out.
Bring your bicycles.
