This is the first one I bought about 4 years ago. I bought my second one, a 68 LoFlyte about 2 weeks later. I stashed this Compact in the barn, told the wife it was hers and that I bought the second one to cut my teeth on repairs. After that it was a constant work flow of Shasta and such until I finally got a real job recently and ran out of campers to work on. So I'm just finally getting around to doing something on it. Here we go again!

Good to see you on here Soup I almost called you the other day to see how you are do, but didn't know your work schedule and was afraid I might wake you. It is about time you fixed her trailer she deserves a premium rebuild. When did you get your new assistant? They both look happy.

The pict is from when he first arrived from Alabama from Anna's Dad. Same place we got Loki. Thought he was supposed to be a blue beagle but her Dad thought he would be better for us instead of the blue I had picked out. Zander is nothing but trouble but Loki likes him. As in the pict, Loki is smiling again!

We have to do what it takes to keep everyone happy.

Zander Roo fits right in, and it is nice to see Loki smiling again! Did you post pics of the Compact when you got it? I remember just such a green one, and the ensuing discussion about how Shasta would paint the bottom part of the trailer to match the family tow vehicle. I hope you can save some of that ceiling paneling... it's gorgeous!
Just one other thing I noticed. Unless the camera is playing tricks, the colors of wood don't exactly match each other. That's the way it was in Hamlet when we got him, so when we redid him, we didn't make ourselves crazy trying to make things match. We figured that in a few years, the new and the old wood would start to blend in better... and they have.
So, have fun with this one. It's going to look fabulous with that tow vehicle!

When I first got this Compact I was totally new to the vintage camper world even though we had been into campers for many years. The pictures you are remembering was from the Vintage Shasta Trailer Forum before it melted down. This Camper was purchased way before this forum was created.
I'm saving all the paneling except the bottom back panel that is rotted. All the rest of the paneling is original but faded in areas. I plan on doing some refinishing in those areas. I have already sourced new paneling for that bottom back wall and will be replacing the paneling on the door too due to rot. I have also provided the cabinet maker where I bought the panels a color sample he will be matching and finishing my pre-cut pieces before I install them. The only wood not original is the curb side bed. I plan on giving the cabinet maker the street side bed to duplicate in reverse for the curb side non-original bench. So I will eventually end up with 1 original bed and one new one exactly like it should be. When finished it will look original.
The hard part will be repairing all the original skins since I can not source them locally anywhere.
