Solo flyer here; when I bought my camper, I'd never hitched or pulled anything before- so the idea of trying to hitch without help really freaked me out... I originally planned on buying a backup camera for my truck, then I came across these at Camping World: Magnetic Hitchin' RodsFolks, I cannot emphasize enough just how great these things are. They allowed me to precisely 'stick it' on the very first try! In fact, the worst attempt I've made with them (so far) took me only 2 tries to get it right on the money. And for $20, you really can't go wrong. They stick up far enough to be readily visible over the tailgate of my truck, the magnets are strong enough that they don't easily come loose, and (most importantly) THEY WORK JUST AS ADVERTISED. Stick one on the flat part of the ball, and put the other on a flat part of the hitch centered & as far forward as possible. Line them up while backing, until the one on the ball falls off. Unless you need to back up a hair more, that's it- you're on target and ready to hitch up!

What a great idea! I have not been successful hitching without a guide, and we had rigged up something that worked on the same principle, but these are a fantastic idea, and will be on my Christmas list.
