I would be more than happy to give you the year but I need the letter that is in front of the series of numbers. Base on the numbers that you listed, it will be one of these prefix letters: FS = North Ridge, California P = Leola, Pennsylvania S = Columbia, South Carolina V = Goshen, Indiana

Hi Ross and hello all, I'm brand new here. I rescued a wicked-sorry Shasta Compact from certain doom years ago. I worked for a property management company back then and it was at an abandoned property that was in the process of being cleaned out and the old girl was going to be scrapped because of it's very poor condition. I took pity on it and dragged it home and have used it as a storage shed ever since, but I've always been curious about what year it is. The VIN is P4717, which I know from reading some posts in this Forum means it was built in Shasta's PA plant. Color is white overall with the orange slash on each side and the worn paint looks original. I'm guessing latter 60's, maybe 1967-ish, yes???

Hello Ross, Nice, thanks for nailing down her 'built' year! I am a bit surprised though, as I thought the white with orange slash paint scheme didn't come around 'til later, like 1966. Does anyone know for sure when this paint scheme (or any of the others) was started or ended? I think it (white w-orange slash) lasted until sometime in '69 but then the 'gold stripe around the middle' style seems to have come into favor around '70, but maybe not at the same time at all Shasta factories. Best Regards, Bob

Hey Bob, Based on what I have read, the squared off Shasta Compacts were born in 1964 with the "Slash" and by the late 1960's, the solid "belt" was introduced. Again, this is based on an article that I read. If you want a bit of Shasta Compact history, Bev has done an excellent job! Shasta Compact's

Ross, Thanks for the link, I looked at it quickly and it looks like Bev did a great job! I will read it in full when I have more time. I never thought I would repair/restore the Compact, but I'm considering doing just that. Our '63 16' Winnebago trailer is very likely in need of a full resto, but will be a much more involved project. The little Compact is far smaller and simpler to work on and would be ideal to practice all the techniques I'll need to master in order to handle the larger project. Compacts seem to be popular and have a following, if I'm able to sell it at a decent price after it's all solid again I can use the funds (and my new skills) to get the 16 footer project rolling. Bob

Ross, we have just purchased a 1964 Shasta Model Twenty. We are trying to find out more information on it as well as the Model Twenty in general. Do you know how many Model Twentys were produced? It seems like there are very few around. Thank you! VIN number is P3540

Thank you for the vin#.
It shows that your Twenty was born in 1965, probably in the 3rd quarter, in Leola, Pennsylvania. To date, there are only 2 Shasta Twenty's in the database and 1 of them is yours. There is really no way to determine how many were built.
1 in 1963 from North Ridge, California 1 in 1965 from Leola, Pennsylvania

Hi Ross. Oops I did it again! Make it number 4, couldn't resist. After the terrible flooding here, a lady had a Shasta that water entered and exited. Leaving mud behind. she cleaned it up and then decided she just didn't want to deal with it and to build a cabin instead. So got a pretty good deal. She thought from looking on the internet that it was a 1500, but I am pretty sure it is a starflyte. It has the trunk back, had the bathroom on streetside, up front dinette and kitchen on curbside. Has wings. Only thing missing that I noticed was the fridge. Anyways she also has the title. It states the model as a SHS and the vin is S27762 titled as a 66. I will try and post pics soon. When I got there she had an old hi lo on the property as well and said they just wanted someone to come haul it off. Me being who I am told her I will take it as well. She is looking for title. What a day, a 2fer! Now just to go and pick them up tomorrow.
