HI all, I saw somewhere a guy had installed a tiny LED in the little slot on his Shasta Bargman grab bar.
Anybody have a line on the tiny LED that could be used? My bar has two screw holes on the underside, looks like it was made for something there orignally...
please advise!
thx j

Does anyone have a photo of what the original lens "looked like", fitted into the slot?
Mine had a old bakelite threaded bulb socket with "course" bulb threads like an old Christmas tree bulb. I found a low wattage, 12v bulb at a specialty lighting store. The first one fell out from vibration, the second one went in with a dab of blue Locktite sealant.
I use this style lighted handle, and use an aftermarket license plate light under the trailer to light the pullout step. They are wired to the same switch.

The bulb above is a 1003. Not so noticeable as the larger 1041 and not as hot either.
The "slot" missing above was covered with a simple a piece of plastic. Not sure what kind... Also, I believe you could special order your name stenciled? on it. I have several handles with a slot but they are larger than Shasta handles. More mobile home style.

Thanks, That's it! The lens has to drop down because the bulb hangs lower than the slot.
But I might need to wait for a while on the $44.00 cost.

Be aware that the grab bar with the "little slot" most often found on early 60's Shastas was not made by Bargman, but by Spring-A-Grab Rail. This bar is a bit wider at the top than the Bargman, and the shape of the lower end is different. The lens and rebuild kit that Vintage Campers sells is for the Bargman, therefore, an adapter plate or other solution will have to be used to mount the lens, and the base gaskets included will be of of no use. However, the reproduction lens that they have sourced is very nicely done.
