Ours drops down evenly when pulled all the way out and when pushing it back in, I lift it off the wall supports and push it down a little so the one piece of plywood slides over the other. I'll take a picture of it without the cushions this weekend. I look forward to Larry's videos too. That's how it's supposed to work. It's great to hear something is working like it is supposed to. LOL.

That's how it's supposed to work. It's great to hear something is working like it is supposed to. LOL. Well not all setups have slats on both. It seems to depend on the size of the bed. Some of them just have a piece of plywood with a front frame on it made of 1x2 but it's still supposed to slip down over the lip of the other piece of plywood so it's level. Same result no matter which way yours is built.

My trailer is only 12' and I was thinking of changing the bed into a gaucho just to add a little more room. My question is, do you think there's enough room to make this happen, or am I better off sticking with the builders design. I'm nearing that point of my project where I need to make a decision. Thanks!

I just remembered I have a trailer with a proper working goucho in it. I'll shoot a quick tip vid in a day or two for ya. Hi Larry, i was reading through this thread as we are now ready to build the bed. I looked on your website but couldn't find the video mentioned above. Do you have a link? Thanks, jody

it did mine a bit different. I have the normal 3 cushions, 2 skinny and 1 wide. But the wide one have 1/4" ply screwed in the wood frame. the wood frames are 1x2"s laying flat on the bottom of the cushion. I did it that way so there is support when sleeping. the ends of big cushion sits over the toilet enclosure and the hotwater enclosure. many pics in blog. loungebait.blogspot.ca/

Looked through your youtube and did not see anything. I have a 1966 Shasta Airflyte that I am going to rebuild the goucho on and seeing other working beds would be awesome.

That trailer went away and I forgot to do it. I have a 59 that I will be working on shortly and I may do a video on that one.
