I am within a few days from ordering all new skin. (I live in NC). I spoke with Steve at Hemet Valley and got a rough quote of $1,700 for skin including S&H. The camper is measuring 6 ft 8 1/2 in high, width across top 6 ft 6 1/4 inch and 11ft 6 1/2 inches in length. I plan to call this place in TN and get a quote. I will report back.

I was wondering about the place in TN. Definitely let me know what you find out about price. I am passing by there next month and will use them if the price, and quality, are good.

NC Camper, what part of NC are you in? If we both decide to use this place then maybe we could coordinate something. So I called and talked with Jerry. Nice guy. He charges by the linear foot. It's $27 a foot with a bend pattern. He offers from 3-6 inch bend. For smooth roof it's $20 per foot. The roofing sections are 8 feet wide and the siding also comes 8 feet wide and it's cut to length. So for my camper he said it would be in the$800-900 range. Far cry from Hemet. The roof is one solid piece of aluminum from bottom front of camper up and over to the back bottom. You can leave it all smooth or he can create the bends so they fall just below the front and back windows then it will be smooth over top of roof. He he sent this picture as example of a 5in bend. What's everyone's thoughts?

I have no idea what your getting, because it's not normal RV skin. Yes, it might work "just fine", and certainly your saving something by not shipping a box full of air all the way across the country.
That said, it sounds to me like the "widely available" Semi Trailer roofing material which comes by the roll, is 102" wide (just over 8'), and is sold by the foot. The last time I purchased this roofing material it was about $15/foot. It was .040" thick, which is thicker than normal RV skin, but since it's soft it was still very easy to work/bend. Normal RV skin is in the .025" to .030" range, for comparison. The Semi Trailer roofing material is not nicely mill finished if your going to polish it, it would need to be painted.
When you buy the skin from Hemet, it's "Pre-Painted Polar White" on one side, and "Mill Finish" on the other side. They both have a baked on clear coat to prevent oxidation. They also have a "Pre-Polished" skin at a little more money. They sell a "Pre-Polished" bubble texture rock guard material that matches the Pre-Polished material.
It's hard to compare apples and oranges. Frankly, I would not want to hang "a single eight foot high piece" on a side. Since I work alone, it's much easier for me to work with four foot wide side wall pieces. It's not hard to use the wider pieces on a roof because you have gravity working for you.

He did mention that it was thicker than the old RV aluminum. I will send him a message and ask thickness. He did say it was mill finish that would require a 220 grit sanding and clean with denatured alcohol prior to painting.

If the one from Hemet is already polar white, how would you get the silver 'Z' stripe on the side?

You would have two options, "Paint the stripe Silver" on the Polar White, or have the metal rolled with the "mill finish out", tape the stripe, and paint the trailer.

Jerry in TN can get it either thickness. . 025" and .040" thick I am picking up my latest camper out west at the end of the week and it will be a month before I'm back home to NC. All I'm looking for is the one rear panel. My roof and walls seem fine. I believe there is an S-lock connecting the rear to the roof, but I'm not sure. I may stop in TN and check out what Jerry offers but as I said it will be some time before I'm passing through. Was the .25 the same price as the .40? I will be painting the camper.

I'm pretty sure I'm going this route for my roofing - thanks for the info.
