Hi - New VTT forum member here!! I am very appreciative of all of the input across the forum. I am rehabbing a 1969 Shasta 1400 (although certainly I could be a model year or 2 off). I expect to complete its registration in New Hampshire in the coming weeks. The state requires the VIN, Bill of Sale, weight, and original sticker price/cost (if there is no title). Yep - ORIGINAL msrp! I have been scouring the forum and threads and the internet to find original cost info -- all to no avail. I'm not even sure the phrase "manufacturer's suggested retail price" was in existence back in the 1960's! Can anyone help?! Maybe there is a price grid out there, much like the many original brochures that have been posted. Or maybe somebody has their original bill of sale from a dealership? Thanks! jed

“1969 Shasta 1400 (although certainly I could be a model year or 2 off”
post the vin and we should be able to tell you the year and where it was made.

You may have to get an appraisal instead of the orig. manufacturer's list price. Ask the DMV what you can substitute.

Hi - thanks. I offered an appraisal, but they specifically require the original cost. Anyone able to make an educated guess (which probably would suffice)? I went through the same exercise in NH a few years back when I bought a used utility trailer. It would be fun to know how much these beauties cost once upon a time anyway. Probably a good idea to confirm the year, thanks for the offer!

Hi Jed,
Your trailer is most likely a 1971 or possibly a 1972. How positive are you of the 1969 date of manufacture?
We can't be sure because your serial number has no end bracket in out data base. It's on a range of serial numbers that are between 1971 and 1972. I would go with 1971.
Cheers,
Rod

Thanks Rod. Since there wasn't any paperwork with the camper, I went with the seller's guess. I've looked for dates elsewhere in the unit, but have discovered nothing definitive. 1971 seems fitting enough!
Best, jed

I'm guessing about 3K in 1971. There are brochures on some models; you might find more info there. A 71 would have a darker paneling than the older 60s models.

My 1400 has the original light/white wood grain paneling. And cream swirly linoleum floor. Would this make it earlier than 1971? I've found a couple of brochures, floorplans, and spec sheets -- but still no price info!

Light interior makes me think earlier than 71. Very difficult to tell without inside and out photos.

Thanks - My next post has some pics. Originally this 1400 had gold paint. Heater and fridge missing. I'm still in the process of re-sealing the rails and gutters, re-wiring, re-flooring, and re-paneling the missing and damaged areas. Hopefully a keen eye can discern a specific identifier to pinpoint the precise year !

Drawings are not original.
This trailer looks EXACTLY like my 68 LoFlyte inside... I'm inclined to say 68. Maybe someone with a newer Shasta will chime in.

I actually had two-the LoFlyte was excellent inside but the Starflyte was coated with white mold... Starflyte sold as a storage unit, Loflyte is still going to rallies.
